Hello, I am seeking expert advice on relocating my family to Thailand in June 2026. My children will be 17, 14, and 13 years old, and I am unsure about the specific visa requirements. Chat GPT suggested that the DTV would be the most suitable option for us. I plan to homeschool my children initially and later explore other educational options. As a remote federal employee, I anticipate continuing in my role abroad, but I am also exploring alternative employment opportunities. I am currently pursuing TEFL and Cybersecurity certifications. Although I do not have substantial savings, I expect to receive $100,000 to $150,000 from the sale of my house and additional funds from selling our belongings. However, I am concerned about meeting the income and asset requirements, particularly if the necessary funds are not available in my account at the time of application. I wont be able to sell my house till around March when it is closer to the time we leave. The price for a monthly rental here in PA will run us at least $5000 which is a lot so if i can stay here as long as possible I will. Can someone explain the financial guidelines to me? Will my current job count as income or my house as assets? Can anyone recommend a professional in Pennsylvania who can assist me with the visa application process? Hopefully I am making sense. Thanks in advance!

Ive been in Thailand 2 years already and recently I got approved for the dtv visa, is it possible to add my child to it? We homeschool so I don’t want an education visa. I’ve been informed by different immigration officials over the years that children under 14yrsr old don’t need a visa. However, on multiple occasions I’ve encountered issues at airport immigration because my child doesn’t have a visa. Our Last entry the officer threatened that my child could be black listed in the future. Just trying to get a clear understanding of what to do since nobody’s on the same page.

Hello. If the parent has DTV, does the 10 year child need to apply for a visa being that they are homeschooled? I am hearing the child is fine to travel with the parent and will not need a visa until 13 years old.

Hi, I am looking for any answers on applying for the DTV visa with children. I have 2 children and can’t get definitive answers on the amount that has to be shown for kids. I am a US citizen and I homeschool. I’ve heard only 500,000 baht has to be shown for all of us and I’ve seen 500,000 each. Has anyone done this yet? Thanks

Hi group, new here. What kind of visa would I need for me and my two kids to live in Thailand for a year. I won’t need to work but I’m hoping I could take some cooking classes and a free cooking apprenticeship or something around those lines. Also plan on home schooling but would it be possible to have them in an international school if I have a tourist visa? Lots of questions. Thanks in advance

Need help with a visa for July. Want to stay for up to a year. 2 kids. I'll be making multiple trips out of the country throughout the year. 1 time a month. So is the process fairly easy, or should I hire an agency?

Thank you. The kids are homeschooling

I'm trying to sort through options for Thailand visas - we're teachers who need a break from teaching in China. We've been to Phuket before and love it.

1) Language visas are possible for adults but not for our kids. As we're qualified teachers we prefer to homeschool our own two rather than admit them to a school. We've been told we could let our kids just overstay as they won't incur a fine.

2) We've also been told volunteer visas are no longer allowed or being issued.

Can someone speak to that last point if it's true or not and if anything would happen with our kids being on overstay while we studied Thai?

I'm thinking about coming to Thailand in March with my daughter. I know staying for 6 months is an option for us but it looks like a really confusing process. I keep reading about 30 day extensions, covid extensions, 90 day check-ins, education visas, landlord forms and a bunch of other stuff and I'm totally confused. I homeschool my daughter so she won't be attending school there. We are both double vaccinated if that makes a difference. I would like to able to travel around Thailand freely without needing to keep going back to the original location to extend visas. What is the best & most stress free way to do this? 😊

Hello all, we are seeking to move to Thailand next year and exploring visa options. We will have two international students (our oldest children) and husband and I would come under the guardian visa. My question is what options might be available to get our two youngest kids into Thailand being that we would continue homeschooling them.
