Ive been in Thailand 2 years already and recently I got approved for the dtv visa, is it possible to add my child to it? We homeschool so I don’t want an education visa. I’ve been informed by different immigration officials over the years that children under 14yrsr old don’t need a visa. However, on multiple occasions I’ve encountered issues at airport immigration because my child doesn’t have a visa. Our Last entry the officer threatened that my child could be black listed in the future. Just trying to get a clear understanding of what to do since nobody’s on the same page.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarity on adding their child to their recently approved DTV visa. Despite different opinions from immigration officials about whether children under 14 need visas, the user has faced challenges at immigration due to their child's lack of a visa. Responses confirm that while children cannot be directly added to a DTV visa, a DTV can be applied for in the child's name as a dependent using the parent's DTV approval. A sponsorship letter and bank statements are required for this application.
Apply for dtv- dependant. It's relatively easy. You just need to provide your bank statement with a sponsor letter stating you'll be financially responsible for them. Much easier to get than the main applicant
I used chatgpt to write one. Just a few lines with your detail, your child's details, relationship and you'll support him financially in Thailand. Doesn't have to be long.
You can't add your kid to your DTV but you can apply for a DTV in their name as your dependant by quoting your DTV. Obviously you need to leave Thailand and apply via a consulate in another country
Legal child can buy a DTV as dependant, you will apply for the child referencing your DTV number/approval as parent and supply a sponsorship letter and bank statement
When my pal and son were leaving (Just before blacklisting came in) he had to pay a fine for them both. The son is disabled and is Thai but on British passport. The immigration did not want to fine the kid but had to. They were very apologetic apparently.
