Re Extension of Visa due to Circumstances in the Gulf and the recent notice from Thai Immigration re overstays and extensions.

Does this apply to people on all Visas?

A friend is on a working visa that will shortly expire and won't be renewed. Presumably he cannot extend his working visa as he won't be continuing to work. Does he have any other options with regards to extending whilst these special circumstances are in place regarding the Gulf and travel?

It seems like we might be going into a situation similar to COVID. Note he is British and the British Embassy will not be issuing letters to support extensions. The British Embassy rarely does anything to help British citizens.... compared to other countries.

Adding... after reading a reply to make the post more specific. He hasn't had a flight cancelled and doesn't have one booked. His working visa expires on March 20th.

Thanks in advance.

I have an under consideration stamp for today's date (extension based on marriage). I went back today (Jomtien) and they told me they are still checking documents and to come back and check tomorrow.

Nothing was added to my passport so will I technically be on overstay from midnight? Also, I have a flight booked for Saturday so what happens if they are still checking documents when I go back tomorrow?

This is my first time doing it by myself and my understanding was that I would get my extension stamped in today.

A forum member ASKED this question ...

But did not use his real name... post declined

But here's his question ❓ ❓ ❓

"On a METV, I have this stamp. If I extend it by 30 days do I get to the 1 March or the 2nd? Do they count 31st January as day 1?

Important as flight home is 2nd March.

Thank you."

Answered by PM

January 31 counts as Day #1

So he will have a One DAY Overstay as he is flying out of Thailand on March 2nd.

As it's ONLY ONE Day OVERSTAY...

Thai Immigration officer will refer him to another Immigration officer who will place an Overstay Stamp in his passport showing 1 Day OVERSTAY with the usual 500 Thai baht per day fine WAIVED.

UPDATED ANSWER .. having chatted with Mods...

It's possible that the 30 days is ADDED TO JANUARY 31ST...

WHICH means the news ending date will be March 2nd...

Therefore no overstay...no fine.

Either way...No Fine.

Attention:

Immigration holidays for July:

ALL immigration offices in thailand will be closed the following days

Thursday 10th July

Friday 11th July

Monday 28th July

If your stamp expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the very next day they're open you can get your extension like normal and will not be charged for overstay. But expect long lines.

My current (Elite) visa ends on June 2nd. I'm planning to leave to Vietnam that exact same day and start my DTV application from there. Just wanted a confirmation from the experts here that staying until that day (June 2) is not considered a one-day overstay. Thanks!

Sorry quick question.

I leave my school in Bangkok on 10th January. The school HR have said that they will cancel my Non-B Visa and work permit on that date.

They said that I have 24 hours to leave Thailand and get a 60 day tourist visa.

Is that correct?

Thank you

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

Immigration Office Holiday Closure Aug 2024

Monday Aug 12th

That is the only holiday in August for thai immigration offices (which are all inside thailand btw ;) )

Check the thai consulate you're going to use and see what their holiday schedule is BEFORE you slog over to one :)

Remember if your stamp expires on a day the immigration office is close (weekends or holidays) and you go the very next day they are open you can get your extension like normal and NOT be fined for overstay.

Also note; borders don't close for holidays :)

Hey everyone,

Currently, I'm on a 90-day Non-O visa that expires on July 22nd, this coming Monday, which coincidentally is also a public holiday from what I understand.

Back on June 10th, I applied for a 1-year extension at the Phuket immigration office. It's been 5 weeks now, and my visa application is still pending. (Under Consideration)

Today, my partner went to check on the status and was advised to bring my passport on Tuesday the 23rd for stamping, starting from the 22nd, which was my previous visa expiration date.

I have a question: when you submit documents for a Non-O 1-year visa extension and it's still under consideration, do you still risk overstaying, even though it's ultimately up to immigration to make the final decision whenever that may be?

Appreciate any advice or insights you may have.

My daughter arrived with a 30day Visa on Arrival. I went to extend it for another month. But immigration officer said because she’s under 15 years old not to worry about it. I asked 2 different guys and they both said the same thing. Anyone else came across this?
