TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the experiences of expats sending their children to international schools in Thailand. Participants share insights on the quality of education relative to costs, mentioning top-tier institutions like ISB and Patana, which are noted for their high standards but also their steep tuition fees. Other schools such as Ruam Rudee and NIST are recommended, while some expats suggest considering less expensive options. There are mentions of alternative schooling, like Thai public schools for those with a Thai ID and private schools with English programs. Locations such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai are highlighted for the availability and affordability of quality education.

Put them in a Thai private school that has an English program. They learn most subjects in English but also learn Thai at the same time. Some of them even teach Chinese too.

The level of English varies from school to school. I would just check out the different schools first.
Thanks!! Do u have experience with these programmes? We have heard this idea from friends, but my wife is concerned about the level of English in these programmes...

Chiang Mai has a lot of international schools. There are enough that they have their own sports leauge for several sports. The prices tend to be a lot better than Bangkok or Phuket, though, while still being a high quality education.

If you're in Bangkok you have plenty of choice. My boy is at a city centre international school (British curriculum) and it's affordable. PM me if you want the details.

If they have a Thai ID card then put them in the public school. Its free until high school.

The difference in his development over a year from Government school is very significant
It's double the price of entry level University fees in the UK, pretty insane!

Does anyone else had good experience with less expensive schools?

Ruam Rudee, American School Bangkok, NIST are also well regarded and long running schools.

IF you're talking about top-tier names like ISB, Rugby School, Patana the qualoity is very good but pricey. I dont have kids and when I was involved with ppl who did it was like 10 years ago, and they were complaining about high tuition fees back then.

How old are your kids? A kindergarten/nursery experience will be very different to primary/secondary, plus with different costs.
