Need help with a visa for July. Want to stay for up to a year. 2 kids. I'll be making multiple trips out of the country throughout the year. 1 time a month. So is the process fairly easy, or should I hire an agency?

Thank you. The kids are homeschooling

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a visa for a year-long stay in Thailand with their two homeschooling children, while also planning to make monthly trips outside the country. The responses suggest considering the Elite visa due to the user's situation, mentioning that the ED visa may not be suitable due to frequent international travel. Alternatives mentioned include the Guardian visa for parents of children in school and the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa for those intending to work in Thailand.

As you are too young to qualify for a retirement visa your only real option is the elite visa. An ED visa isn't suitable for you due to the number of trips out of the country. If you send the kids to school they could get ED visas and you could get a Guardian visa but you may not want to do that. Another option for you could be one of the LTR visas, especially if you plan to work while inside Thailand (which you can't do on many visas including the elite visa)

I don't plan on working while in the country. And I'm only planning on staying for a year at the most. Would the multiple entry tourist visa be suitable?

Oh. I didn't know that. Well crap. We are kind of stuck with no options really.

yea staying as a tourist isn't as easy as it was before when you could just bounce out and back on visa exempt entries as much as you wanted. Post Covid they've tightened down considerably. Not that that would really be an option with kids anyway.

you can get almost 9 months out of that if you plan it well, but that will be difficult for you given your trips. Be aware that the visa is only valid for 6 months and starts the day it is issued though, you get stamped in for 60 days every time you enter the country so given your trips you're probably only going to get around 6 months out of it at best.

His final exit stamp will still be nearly 9 months from his first entry stamp though.

not if he has to leave every month. The visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and each entry gets him stamped in for 60 days but he's only going to be using 30 days of that. Assuming he manages to time everything absolutely perfectly the most he's going to get is about 7 months
