My family and I (my wife and our two kids) are planning to move to Thailand for an undetermined period, in about two years. I just wanted to run my plan by you and get some feedback to see if it makes sense.
I own a company back home in Canada, which provides me with a regular salary. I'm considering applying for the DTV visa — would this be a suitable option in my case? Also, would my family be able to join me under this visa? If needed, I could also put my wife on the company payroll.
Lastly, would our kids be able to attend school while we're in Thailand?
I'm looking into relocating from Australia with my partner and 3 children.
My partner has a business and can work from anywhere. 2 of my children would go to an international school, my littlest is 1 yo.
We're not married but have been together for 17 years.
My partner is thinking, eventually, he would like to hire employees so I'm assuming that a business visa and work permit would be more suitable. Everything I've researched, our children would be able to apply for visas under his business visa but I would not unless we get married, which is fine, it's a piece of paper.
We're not in a hurry and want to ensure everything is done properly. I would love some advice on experiences or contacts for some solid info/assistance.
Hi. We want to apply for the DTV visa but we have a 20 year old daughter traveling with us. Can we include her as a dependent in our visa? She will turn 21 when we enter Thailand.
- I applied on Jan 18th on soft power, medical, with 1 doctor appointment letter indicates baby delivery,
1 joint bank statement over $16000
- 2days later I got email: Proof of current financial evidence ,e.g. Bank statement not less than $16,000/person or $36,000 for joint account that show applicant's name.
- Submitted new bank statement as required.
- long waiting~ status stucked on Pending for a month
- 2 days ago, I wrote an email to info@thaicgny.com states my situation that knowing DTV visa approval status earlier will be a big help considering 1) going to Thailand for pregnancy care and delivery and postpartum care, needs time to make more doctor appointments and settle down. 2) waiting for my DTV visa approved and then apply DTV for my spouse and kid. 3) Have one toddler that needs hiring nanny in advance.
- 1 day later, I received email says already push a note to consider my visa soon.
I applied for my DTV via the eVisa route to the Los Angeles Consulate end of Nov 2024 and recently got approved. While I know we were supposed to wait in the US until we were approved, unforeseen circumstances caused a delay. We arrived to Thailand at the end of Dec 2024. Currently I, my, spouse, and children are here on a 60-day visa exemption that will expire at the end of this month.
Now I need to apply for DTVs for my spouse and children. I know we're not supposed to apply while we are in Thailand. We were planning on flying to a SE Asia country to get theirs processed over a couple of days. However, am I correct that there are no in-person appointments in SE Asia anymore, and all applications are through the eVisa portal?
Do we need to leave Thailand, go to SE Asia Country and apply through the eVisa portal for that country, hoping that it gets processed quickly and then fly back in? Going back to the US to apply is not feasible for us. Thanks in advance.
I have a small predicament. My family is moving to Bangkok in may/June and while my husband will be getting a DTV, I’m not sure what I should do. We have a couple kids with us so this is where it gets complicated. While I know we can attach to the DTV as dependents, I’m in university for a TESL degree and need to start an internship in August. If I’m correct, I believe I can’t be on the DTV if I’m also on an education visa for my internship. But… my husband has to fly back to the states in July alone so the kids (who will be on his DTV) will be left with me in BKK. Curious how we should work this… would it be more beneficial to hold off on applying for the DTV until after he gets done in the states (it’s only a 2 week trip), and just hang out on visa exempt for a couple months??
Hi! Has anyone successfully added their parent as a dependent to their DTV? Looking for advice and tips. FWIW, I got my DTV from the Thai embassy in Los Angeles.
We are in Thailand. Is it possible for me to travel alone to Cambodia to issue my DTV, return to Thailand, and then, after one month, travel again with my wife and child to issue their DTVs based on mine?
We want to avoid staying abroad for more than 10 days. I understand that I need to first issue my DTV (up to 10 days) before theirs can be issued (another 10 days). This could mean staying abroad for 20 days total with the child, which we want to avoid.
