Hello all, we are seeking to move to Thailand next year and exploring visa options. We will have two international students (our oldest children) and husband and I would come under the guardian visa. My question is what options might be available to get our two youngest kids into Thailand being that we would continue homeschooling them.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the visa options available for a family planning to move to Thailand, particularly concerning their two youngest children while continuing to homeschool them. Various suggestions include the Non-O and education visas for the oldest children, and different strategies for the younger kids, such as the possibility of them being included under guardian visas or seeking other types of educational or volunteer visas.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

Plan 1:Two oldest children can get the Non-ed visa.

You couple can choose the O visa.(one ed Visa support one O visa).

(And you need to deposit 1 million baht in the bank for two people)

But the youngest children will be the problem.

Plan 2: Oldest kids get Ed visa also.

One of you couple apply the volunteer visa and another one and two youngest kids get the O visa under the volunteer Visa.

No need to deposit, just need to pay 4000 or 5000 baht per person for agents.

For the volunteer visa, wouldn’t a person need to be invited by a foundation? Just curious how this works in Thailand.

The local thai agent will help you to apply. You just need to hold the tourist visa to thai like me.

Only when you hold the work visa, you can work legally.

But many foreigners do the business with other Visa.

So do I.

We all know it's illegal, but just keep your head down.

you are welcome. If you get problem in thai in the future, highly recommended you to find a thai agent.

Last time,I did not deposit in time.So my visa was cancelled. We had to back to China and apply again.

But now I know just need to pay a few to the agent, they will help you to solve the problem.

Thailand is a amazingcountry.

From what I understand OP has 4 kids, 2 will be enrolled in school, and the parents will get gaurdian visas, which is possible, then the other 2 kids will be homeschooled and she wants to know what visa they can climb on.

I don't believe you can home school them and then get supporting visas.

I agree and the whole point of such a visa is so that the host country benefits financially from the arrangement. There's taking the piss...and there's literally sticking two fingers up to the Thai educational system. I guess we know which this one is. Strewth.

Find a part time Thai language education program for them. Then teach the rest at home. Or elite visa. Or start a Thai company that employs them but that’s the most costly.

Bringing children to a foreign country, a completely different culture and teaching them at home?

Are you sure you even understand what you are doing to children?

Kinder in ein fremdes Land, eine vollkommen andere Kultur bringen und zuhause unterrichten?

Sind Sie sicher fass Sie ueberhaupt verstehen was Sie den Kindern antun?

Thank you for your concern. We are very careful to care for our children and their needs. They enjoy extra curricular activities in the local cultures we have been in and always find native friends with ease. 😁

Usually children follow the adult caretakers, no the way around. Amazing how people are inventive about trying to bypass the system.

David is correct. In the case of a guardian visa that visa follows or trails the visa/extension of the child. One parent can hold one for one non Thai child at an international school. The child gets a year long Ed visa/extension and the parent can apply for a non O visa based on being the guardian of the child. For example if the child only has 8 months left on their ED extension when the parent applies for a year extension they will only get their extension up until the date the child is stamped for - because it’s a trailing visa/extension

Sure, but in the OP case, the children didn't put their foot in Thai soil yet. That's why I commented this was a bloody smart idea they had to get a long term visa...

Might be helpful to start with your nationality/ passport country.
