Hi all, those already on a DTV - have you had any issues traveling within Thailand? Say, you are based in Chiang Mai and want to visit Phuket for a week. Is this problematic in any way?

I saw some info on a website that said DTV holders might experience issues traveling to other provinces (away from where they are based) for short trips. It seemed counterintuitive to me, but I want to check if this has been problematic for anyone.

Also, has anyone experienced issues having short trips to nearby countries (Laos, Indonesia, etc.)? Or do just get stamped for 180 days when you arrive back to Thailand (no questions asked about why you travelled)? Thanks so much 😊

If I get a year super cheap lease for a year can I use it as my home base and travel freely doing month to month or less using Airbnb once my 1 year extension is approved, then repeat the next year?

Under the new 60 day visa exempt entry for tourists, is it still necessary to apply for an METV?

I was planning to use Thailand as a base from August-November, and during that time visit other countries in Asia every 4/5 weeks by AIR. I thought I’d need to get an METV originally, but am I right in assuming the new visa exemption doesn’t require it?

Of course I understand it’ll still depend on the IO.

This is what we received in email today. I don’t know what to do because 1) we are not returning to US, we are traveling for a while 2) does it have to be an air ticket? 3) since we applied for 6 month multiple entry visa does the ticket need to be at 60 days or 6 months? Hi, what's the earliest you can extend your stay? We entered visa exempt and want to extend. We would like to do it in samui and will of been in Thailand two weeks, so half way through and want to extend before travelling around. Also what paperwork is needed now please.
