Are there any online Thai language programs valid for an educational visa, especially for families?

Are there any Thai language programmes you can do that would likely be valid for an educational visa, but that are held on-line? OR family orientated language programmes?

I really want to learn the Thai but as I’m traveling out there just with my 8 year old son, I won’t have any kind of childcare as an option.

Any suggestions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns finding valid online Thai language programs suitable for an educational visa, particularly for travelers who are accompanied by a child. Responses suggest that online courses typically do not qualify for the visa as they require in-person attendance. Some suggested schools, like Genius Language School in Phuket, offer online classes that may allow for child accompaniment, with an emphasis on directly contacting the school to confirm such arrangements. General advice includes exploring local options that might provide childcare or allow children in classes.

It's very relaxed here in regards to bringing your kids places. Maybe there's a place to learn Thai that also has a space for your kid to be when you're in lessons.

oh this would be perfect and it’s 2 hours, twice a week which would be just right and not too much for my son’s attention span if he came with me. Looks very cheap to. I will definately get in touch with them. It doesn’t mention anything on-line for their group classes but they may just be fine with him coming with me since my sight is limited so he helps me anyway and he wants to learn Thai too.

You should just talk to the school and ask if it is okay if you have your son with you in class. Honestly, some of the schools are scam schools without required attendance. The classroom is practically empty. Just talk to the schools. Worst they can say is no.

That’s a good point and I’m partially blind too so my son helps me a bit and they’d probably be glad to have him so they don’t have to worry about what I can’t see etc.

If it's online it isn't eligible for a visa. The entire reason the ED visa exists is because you are saying that you must attend class in person, so you need a visa to be in Thailand to do that. You can take an online class from your home, you do not need a visa for that.

Oh yeah, damn, that makes sense. Hmm, I really want to study Thai properly, in the country, but don’t know how to do that without childcare. What about private, in person, can that ever count for your visa? As in, one on one, not a class.

Your child won't be going to school? That would give you time to study. And you can get a visa off your child being in school as well.

I home educate, always have. He has no desire to go to any kind of school. He does want to do Muai Thai though so we might do that for a visa until my income is stable enough to get the DTV.

not if they are travelling unfortunately

No because the school needs to get an ED Visa approved by the Ministry of Education, individuals cannot do that

ok, thanks for the help. I’ll do on-line and emeryion to learn the language and skip the education visa. I do have other visa options, just though since I wanted to learn anyway, it was worth looking at.

Apreciate the help.
