Hi guys!

I am currently located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and I am planning a trip to Thailand and other neighboring countries in the coming months. I would like to apply for a 6-month multiple-entry tourist visa and I would appreciate some clarification regarding the necessary requirements.

Specifically, I would like to know which documents I need to provide to fulfill the "Travel booking confirmation" requirement in point number 4 of the last section of the e-visa application form.

Is it sufficient to include the inbound flight to Thailand or do I also need to provide the train ticket that I will be taking to reach the border with Laos, where I will be visiting for a few days before returning to Thailand using the same means of transportation?

The best & cheapest way to wire large amounts of cash to Thailand for Americans and to get the best exchange rate using a credit card.

If you are a veteran or a family member of one, you can qualify for NFCU membership. They are one of, if not the largest, credit unions in the world.

Wiring from an NFCU account to a Thai account, any amount of money, is a straight $25 wire fee. Depending on the bank, it will show up within 1-4 days. Always send US dollars as you will get a better exchange rate by the receiving bank in Thailand.

The best way to avoid any worries about Thai taxes, AND get the best exchange rate for dollar to baht, while racking up credit card reward points, is to use the NFCU flag ship VISA rewards card and not have the transaction on the radar. NFCU Visa gives you whatever the international exchange rate is at the time of your purchase, and you can use the credit card in most businesses that accept credit card.

I used to be a big fan of NFCU; however, their services have deteriorated since they opened up membership to branches. Regardless, if you are eligible, it can save you a lot of money. Drop a note if I can answer any questions.

# Hi, I am currently in Da Nang, Vietnam where there is no Thai embassy and consulate. Would it be possible to get a visa exemption when I arrive at the airport in Bangkok and then purchase a 30 day visa extension on the same day from the airport? Any advice is welcome! (I hold a British passport btw). Thank you and happy new year! :-)

Hi all. Newbie question.

I am deciding whether to apply for o or oa retirement visa.

US citizen. non-married, already own a condo in Thailand and frequently in country on visa exempt.

Is there any benefit to doing an OA instead of O?

Seems like O is the way to go. I've been reading lots of posts and can't see any benefit to OA. I don't mind the 30-day to one year extension process for o. I'm already at Cheangwattana frequently.

Any advice appreciated. Starting the process this month. Cheers, j

I realize many expats have fat pensions or ample retirement funds, but is it possible to live (simply but comfortably-- not just "survival mode") in Thailand on a very modest income?
