Hello.

Currently I'm in Phuket since April without any visa (immigration stamp for 30 days originally), I've applied Covid extension 3 times (ending in the beginning of November).

Is it possible for me to go to Penang for border-run and get 45 days more without acquiring tourist visa?

Admin - please feel free to ignore this if you think it’s not informative.

Hi all. I’m American, just did a visa run after being in Thailand for 9 months on STV + one Covid extension. Here’s my visa experience flying from BKK to Hanoi & back, if it’s any help to others:

1 - My airline - Vietnam Airlines - did not ask about a ticket out of Thailand during the visa period. (Although I bought one, after reading posts on here.)

2 - At immigration in BKK, the officer asked me if I have a visa. I replied that I thought American citizens can enter visa-free for 45 days. She said yes, but how long do I plan to stay in Thailand - obviously she saw I’ve been here for almost a year. So I showed her my exit ticket & she stamped me right in. (My actual plan is to apply for retirement extension, but I didn’t have to go into all that at that time.)

3 - Re the exit ticket out of Thailand - this won’t work for everyone, but I bought an airline ticket using frequent flyer miles to a destination that I will definitely go to at some point. So only had to lay out $20 USD. Yes, now I need to change that ticket & there will be a fee involved, but it will get used sometime in the future.

Hi,

Can someone please advice -

My covid extension runs out on the 17th, I only have 3 covid stamps and I want to get out the country and come back (without any third parties).

Has anyone recently done a boarder run on their own? If so, how did it go and where did you go?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you 🙏

TIA, a quick question w.r.t 90 day reporting ( TM47), as this would be my first time staying in the kingdom continously for over 90 days by to the time I fly out in Oct. European with covid ext good till end of october ( for tourism purpose). And the hotel I am staying at ( for the full duration) has properly reported/filed TM30 accordingly... Question, 1) do I need to make the 90 day reporting? ( Would be my first time ever) 2). The hotel has called the division1 3 times ...each time w different answers ...even I checked website ...I got even more confused - 3), do I need report in person? Or online or by post would be adequate ... ( As I too get different answers from different officers) ... Thanks again

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

Difference between a "visa run" and a "border bounce"

With the ending of the oh-so long ;) 60 day covid extension program (which in case you were wondering ran from Nov 1st 2020 to August 24th 2022 or 21 months and 3 weeks :O ) people will now need to exit/re-enter the country when their current covid extension stamp runs out.

There are two things which people can do when they exit/re-enter

VISA RUN

A "Visa Run" is pretty self explanatory :P

You "run" (go) to a thai consulate in another country and BUY a visa for thailand then return. This can be done by land using the thai consulates in the border countries or by air flying to another country and using the thai consulate there to get a visa before you return.

BORDER BOUNCE

A "Border Bounce" is also pretty self explanatory (if you think about what you're doing :P ).

You go to the border, stamp out of thailand, "bounce" (stamp) in and out of another country and then re-enter thailand to get a new entry stamp OR to activate another entry on a valid multi entry visa. This can also be done by land or air where you fly out and back in.

Now keep in mind the companies that lug people to the border and back AND who also lug people to the thai consulates in other countries call BOTH things "visa runs" but that is to keep it simple.

That's the two choices people who have stamps running out in the near future are going to have as options.

We wish everyone good luck in their visa running, or their border bouncing.

Just came from Suratthani immigration, apparently I can only apply for the Covid extension if I am already on an extention, not on my original Visa Exempt

Hi all, I'm planning to enter to Thailand in October with the 90 days visa exemption (argentine passport). After those 3 months, can I apply either for the 30 days extension, the 60 days covid extension, or switch to another kind of visa to stay longer? Thanks!
