Hi, we own a small company in NZ and now hire a management company to take care of the day to day running of the business, we get regular reports and become involved if there are any large financial decisions to be made etc or problems.
We get a weekly payment and meet all the financial requirements. Has anyone else applied in a similar situation and would it be a free lancer or a remote employee? Heading to Laos on the way to Thailand later this year so will apply there
Hi everyone. Does anyone have experience in working remotely (freelance / digital nomad) with a DTV soft power? TH embassy feedback is not clear and I got different answers by AI (Grok/Gemini saying it is fine while ChatGPT/Claude saying iy is not 🙂). Tks
TL;DR: Can working remotely while on a Tourist Visa lead to a DTV denial?
I spent the last 2 months in Thailand on a Tourist Visa and worked remotely during that time. Now I'm in Manila and ready to apply for the DTV.
I have all the documents (Employer letter, 500k THB balance), but I'm worried about the payslips. My payslips show the total monthly hours worked (but not a daily breakdown). I’m concerned the embassy will cross-reference the working hours and realize some of it has been in Thailand on a tourist visa.
Has anyone faced this? Should I apply now, or wait a few months so those specific dates aren't on my recent payslips?
Has anyone ever applied as a contractor for their own company vs applying as a company. If so have you just signed as yourself to say you can work remotely and also that you work for “the company”? Thanks
The Thai Embassy has returned with a request for more information:
A letter explaining how I will work remotely while in Thailand?
Does this mean I just need to make an "official" letter myself. Explaining I will work out of a co-working space from my laptop? Any more details needed?
Does anyone have experience as a “digital nomad” working for themselves (private practice therapist) using the DTV? It looks like one of the requirements is working for a big company which I don’t.
i am a partner for a real estate company in my country, my job is to do customer care with phone calls and video calls, i also do electronic invoicing for our customers. everything done remotely.
Apart the company registration and tax return i have no other concrete proof.
Regarding documentation for permission to work remotely. When I google Remote Work Agreement, the results seem to be very elaborate documents. I am looking for something much shorter maybe a line or two. I have got the permission from the company I work for but they asked me to draft the document myself. Does anyone here have some example texts that they used? TIA
