Soft Power London approved - 3 working days
Hi folks,
Ive been reading this page since the start of the year and picked up some good information (and some not so good) so thought i would post the outcome of my application.
I applied to London at 8am on Thursday the 6th of August using a 9 month cooking course from House of Taste in Bangkok. I only provided the requested documents with the exception of my flight booking which i also included. For proof of location I used a BT bill and a bill from British Gas. I had in excess of £17,000 in my account which i had held since June and submitted a 6 month statement from HSBC that i had received that morning.
At 12pm on Friday the 7th i received a request for the following 6 additional documents:
1. A letter from HSBC confirming my balance and that it had been held for at least 10 days. I popped into my local branch that same afternoon and they handed me a letter within 15 minutes.
2. 3 months of payslips for May, June and July.
3. My bank statement again with my salary payments highlighted. I included a covering letter with this explaining on which page of the statement each payment could be found, the date and how much it was and saying that it was highlighted in yellow.
4. A letter confirming i would not work in Thailand and would work remotely only.
5. A letter confirming i would remain in Thailand until my visa was issued.
6. A letter introducing myself and explaining how i would support myself.
The sixth document was the one i was a bit nervous about as i intend to work remotely. I decided that the best approach was to be entirely honest and i explained that i would support myself by working remotely doing my UK based job and that the money would continue to be paid into my UK bank account.
The additional documents were submitted at 8pm on Friday the 7th of August.
Today at about 5:30pm i received an email confirming my visa had been approved.
So, a total of 3 working days for London to turn it around. To be honest, it was very easy and i was surprised how quickly the visa was issued.
