Soft power, Work remotely & Taxes

I hold a dtv soft power visa. I work as freelancer (indipendent contractor) which I now is okay cause the embassies says you can work remotely for Non Thai companies or Non Thai clients.

Now I'm working for a company who ask which my "country of residence and tax country" is, as they have necessarily be the same country. I set thailand cause I'm not resident in my citizenship country anymore and officialy in a register of NON-resident in my country (but i would have insert my country as tax country if I had the chance).

The check my thailand record crime and approved me to work.

This year i've been in thailand more than 180 days but I couldn't find info about paying the taxes here in thailand on dtv. Is there's a form available, when those taxes should be paid?(The year after?)

For payment/stripe setup, wich country would you choose?

Any insights and recommendations?

Dtv it's long term tourist visa. I know people open company in tax freindy country and bank account and base their tax residency there

If you are inside Thailand for 180 days or more in a calendar year you are automatically a Thai tax resident, but that's not the same thing as being a resident. You file a Thai tax return in the first 3 months of the following year and you are obliged to do so if you bring 120k baht or more of assessable income into the country in the calendar year. Once you have filed the tax return you can get a certificate from the Revenue Department showing you are a tax resident for the year in question (only)

Pay taxes in your passport country.

With a DTV you are not a resident in Thailand, so you just lie to the company you are working for.

Maybe DTV is not the correct visa for you

DTV doesn't grant permanent residence, but you can still become a Thai tax resident after 180 days in a calendar year.

Anonieme deelnemer Yes, tax residency has nothing to do with your visa., but also does not make you a resident of a country.

Interesting company if they ask you for your personal tax residency. You do B2B or are on a contract of employment?

Poza UE ustalenie rezydencji podatkowej pracownika to zupełnie normalna, a wręcz kluczowa sprawa.

You can be a tax resident of more than one country simultaneously. I also doubt that a tax residency certificate is required; I guess it is a declaration. And in a B2B arrangement, it should not matters anyway.

You can't earn Thai income on a DTV, so the company can't pay you directly to a Thai bank account anyways.

yes, company can transfer payments by swift, wise or another method to your Thai bank account if you have one. It's not illegal.

Sorry that is not correct, where your final funds are deposited is irrelevant. My client is Australian, employer South African, I'm paid out of Isle or White, directly into my Thai bank account. I am not employed by a Thai company, for not have any Thai clients and do not do any work for any Thai company. rightpe04

yes, you're right about the bank account, but the difference here, in your case, is they they're NOT using your Thai persona to make the deposit, are they? OP deposits seems like they'll be linked to his Thai ID.

Correct - if the employer asks for his tax details it sounds like they will treat him as an employee, which is absolutely not allowed.

You can work if it's not thai company you can see in many screeshot from embassy.Tax documentation identifies tax status; it doesn't turn a foreign contractor into a Thai employee.

Participante anónimo did the company say they're paying you to a non-Thai bank account while using your Thai "tax resident" information? If they do like that no problem, but normally they'd pay to an account in the same country they're using the tax information.

not the question he ask.

BlueElephant4528 it's what he's asking. If the company is asking for Thai tax ID, it's because they're paying to his Thai persona, which isn't allowed on a DTV. He's supposed to be paid to his another country identity.
