Activated my DTV today on a border run through a service in Jomtien area. BE WARNED - there is a fee of 2000 baht at the border crossing used by the agancies in Pattaya.

I wasnt told, but there were 3 of us on the trip and all were charged. The good part was we were escorted like VIP'S to front of line and stamped through without any issue of questions or angry officers. They said this was a charge due to the length of stay of 180 days and because the DTV is supposed to go through an airport entry.

Not sure if this is new or only this border, but if going by land have some cash with you in case.

Entering at other borders or going on your own through the border does not apply here - this is only using a border run service from pattaya area, the border guards were charging the fee ... Not the visa services.

Soft Power DTV Visa Rejection – Need Help!

Hey everyone, I’m in Ho Chi Minh and recently applied for the Soft Power DTV visa. I submitted everything—500K+ THB in my account, a 3-month condo reservation, and all required docs.

Still, I got rejected two days ago. They asked for income proof, but here’s the issue:

🔹 I’m a stock trader making ~$1,500/month.

🔹 I closed all my old accounts, so I have no past records.

🔹 My country doesn’t tax stock profits, so I can’t provide tax documents.

I’m worried this could lead to a final rejection. Anyone faced this before? Any advice?

I was recently denied entry in BKK due to using the visa exemption on entry too many times. I’m now back in the Uk where I am a citizen.

I did left the kingdom twice last year, each time reset my visa.

I emailed the Thai embassy in London to ask if I could apply for a DTV visa (soft power) and they replied with a very confusing message. They stated I may not be approved for the DTV and that I should apply for a tourist visa. They also said my name is on a blacklist with local immigration.

I have never heard of someone being blacklisted after a denied entry, only after overstays (I have never) or breaking the law. Could it be the email is misunderstood with regards to the phrasing?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, I love spending time in the kingdom and have been a genuine tourist the whole time. Not working etc…

Re non O retirement visa: with the new tax laws coming into effect what options do I have to get around this in transferring money from the UK to a Thai bank account? Ta
