What should I know about fees when activating my DTV on a border run in Thailand?

Activated my DTV today on a border run through a service in Jomtien area. BE WARNED - there is a fee of 2000 baht at the border crossing used by the agancies in Pattaya.

I wasnt told, but there were 3 of us on the trip and all were charged. The good part was we were escorted like VIP'S to front of line and stamped through without any issue of questions or angry officers. They said this was a charge due to the length of stay of 180 days and because the DTV is supposed to go through an airport entry.

Not sure if this is new or only this border, but if going by land have some cash with you in case.

Entering at other borders or going on your own through the border does not apply here - this is only using a border run service from pattaya area, the border guards were charging the fee ... Not the visa services.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When activating a Digital Tourist Visa (DTV) on a border run in Jomtien, be aware that you may incur an unexpected fee of 2000 baht at the border crossing, particularly when using agencies in Pattaya. This fee was not disclosed during the service but was uniformly charged to all participants. The advantage of using the service includes expedited processing at the border, as participants were escorted through without issues. It's important to note that this fee may not apply when entering through different borders or when traveling independently.

I gave Baan Thai immigration solutions 10k, paid $400 for DTV through Los Angeles, 20k for Fight EVO360 Thailand - Thepprasit Boxing Stadium classes 6 months, then the 2k at the border with the service of VIP Visa-Thai Driving License of 3900. I was here for 7 visa runs by land with above service and no issues.

DTVers do not have to go thru an airport to enter Thailand. Land entry is perfectly fine, looks like they trying to justify the 2000 THB.

I saw another post elsewhere earlier where the van cost and the border cost is separate for DTV. I know the one from Pattaya for DTV is 6500 THB. Then I saw one circa 3k for van and 2k for border. A pal did it DIY from Pattaya on visa Exempt and border charge was 3.5k . It seems all over the place and no standard.

ya I asked for a straightforward answer at the border, with the lawyer that helped me prepare documents, and with visa agency ... None of them were sure or blamed the fact that 180 days just costs more. Lol
