Good morning. I am looking to apply for the DTV from the UK using soft power either culinary or muy Thai. I’ve read on here that it’s better to apply sooner rather than later even though I don’t intend to come out until later this year. I am coming for a short holiday next month though so should I apply for DTV in time for that or come out on a 60 day tourist visa? I Have everything I need for the DTV apart from the course. I’m just not sure how the course part works if I don’t plan to start it until October. I know that the visa is 5 years and there is no requirement to arrive by any particular time but since I have to submit course documents would the embassy question why I am applying now for a course that starts later this year? Plus also coming out next month for a 2 week stay?

Me and my significant other aim to move to Thailand in a few months. We make music full time which makes around 7k a month gross, though we are considering doing a soft power (we don't officially run a registered business, very DIY). We have always shared funds from my account. Since we are self employed and share funds, what is the best course of action for obtaining a DTV for both of us?

We have the 500k baht each and make a good amount to our (my) main account, so not really a money issue - maybe just in the wrong places. Is there a monthly requirement for how much she should be making a month? What are the exact requirements for a soft power as far as income and documentation? Should we apply in the USA beforehand or try from Vietnam like many have suggested?

I'm mainly just looking for overall advice to our unique situation, and a general best course of action. Any advice is appreciated.

Is it better to keep funds in a Thai bank or something like Wise for the DTV application? Specifically looking to apply in Manila or Jakarta

I don't make much from freelancing and I have two freelancing jobs. One is designing (which allows me to provide an online portfolio) and one is tutoring (which is where my limited income comes from, and my invoices relate to).

Will it likely complicate things too much if I present myself as having both of these freelancing jobs?

It's the only real way I can show income and also a portfolio

So I applied at the London embassy almost a month ago. They asked for more information about my business which I sent back. Then a few days later they asked for another recent photo of me. And since then…silence. It’s been over two weeks now.

My flight is in two weeks time and my husband also still has to apply for the spouse visa, does anyone think there is any point in trying to call the embassy and check progress?

Just entered with my DTV which was approved back in December last year, the only question asked is if I was only one person, very easy, smile, wai and respect the officer, you'll have no issues whatsoever.

Hey. I’m seeing a lot of people saying they are not getting there DTV granted and that Thai authorities are being a lot stricter etc.

Has anyone had any success stories recently in the last couple of weeks?

Is it still safe to apply from bordering countries like Vietnam, Cambodia etc?

I am planning to visit Vietnam very soon and apply. I have all the required documents but just wondering is there anything to look out for? I have been on tourist visa in Thailand since last June and have done some border runs, could that have any negative impact? Would going through an agent help at all?

My company is situated in Europe but is now fully remote.

Thanks

Hello!

I have a quick question about a DTV visa application.

I’m planning to fly to Vietnam Hanoi from Thailand tomorrow to apply for a DTV visa.

I’m currently a holder of a tourist visa which is valid for 6 months expiring in July.

Would it be possible to apply for a DTV while my tourist visa is still valid?

If not, can I cancel my current visa at an immigration office in Thailand?

Thanks in advance🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

METV Visa Question:

Hi...I'm Ken - a traditional 6 month tourist visitor to Thailand. Had to pay a 10k bribe to BKK immigration recently to come in from a recent visa run or they would send me back to where I'd come form. They said they Red Flagged my passport for needing a long-term visa the next time I visit.

- The Retirement Visa doesn't work for me because I'm rather mobile and after getting one I'd be forced to return to TH in person to renew at a certain time each year.

Been looking into the METV....

If I understand it right

- It allows for a 6 month stay.

- I'm allowed to stay the first time 60 days...which can be extended an additional 30 days.

- Then I can return after a visa run and start the process over.

Questions:

- Has anyone in this group ever gotten one of these?

- Do I understand it right?
