Just entered with my DTV which was approved back in December last year, the only question asked is if I was only one person, very easy, smile, wai and respect the officer, you'll have no issues whatsoever.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster shared their recent experience entering Thailand with a long-term stay visa (DTV) that was approved the previous December. They mentioned that the process was straightforward, with the only question being if they were traveling alone. Commenters inquired about the steps to obtain such a visa, specifically for a Swiss individual wishing to stay for 5-5.5 months without needing to do border runs, and asked about the need for return versus one-way tickets.

Did you have a return ticket? Or can you just enter with a 1 way ticket ?

if you have a Visa you don't need a ticket out.. that is typically a requirement for exempt entry. Even if immigration doesn't always ask but airlines often do.

I was asked for a ticket out by Thai immigration on every entry on my METV, but not when I entered on my DTV this week

I've entered six times so far since October, always on one way tickets. Last time was last month.

you don't need a return ticket, since you get 180 days at each entry. Do you already have your DTV done?

for 6 months, all you need is a multiple entry tourist visa. Apply at your local embassy, through the e-visa website.

a multiple entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months, and let's you stay 90 days at a time.

No embassy will approve a 5 year visa for someone planning a 5,5 month vacation.
