I see. So their policy reserves the right to restrict even with a visa, when their is no onwards flight. Sorry, I'm not sure then. I can only say that my experience was a little different from what you was told, as that individual ground staff member was prepared to let me on the plane with just a visa only (no onward flight needed). Maybe I would of just been lucky, if i had had the visa. My onward flight was also within 30 days. Sorry, not much help.
From what the member of staff told me the metv or a setv by itself, would be fine. That said, airport staff never fill me with confidence. It might be worth calling their customer service, just to double check. Good luck.
It depends on the airline's policy. Emirates does ask. I was asked at Heathrow (UK). I was first asked if i had a visa and then when I said I didnt, they wanted to see a onward flight. I was informed it would of been fine if I had the visa. I assume if you already have the metv you'll be fine - provided what the airline staff informed me, is correct.
I went on a Wednesday (14th June) and arrived at 7:50 am. There were only 35 people in front of me. They started at 8:30am and I was out just before 9am. Returned the next day for collection at 1:30pm and was out by 13:42 pm. Hope this helps
Tod Daniels Doug Etherington my apologies for any confusion. I had wrote it as such; the Thai consulate within your ‘own’ country. Or, at least meant it that way. Sorry, if I caused any confusion. Doug, follow whatever Tod has to say. He’s definitely the man to steer you in the right direction.
Personally, I think it's highly unlikely that your own embassy will have an issue with your return flight being 87 days. You may have a issue with the Airline company. But, again unlikely as you have a visa, as opposed to getting a visa exempt on arrival; only once have I been asked to show a onwards flight by a airline. First I was asked if I had a visa, which i didnt, and then i was asked for a onwards flight. The flight I had was approx 90 days and they were fine with this. I was told that its the airlines responsibility to return you to your own country if you're refused entry - not sure how true this is. Only some of the airlines have a policy to ask for onwards flights. I was flying with Emirates. Regardless, I would suggest, as you've already bought the ticket for 87 days to try with that, if either the airline or the embassy ask for something within the 60 day period, then buy the cheapest coach ticket or plane journey out of Thailand. You can buy a coach ticket from Bangkok to Cambodia for approx 30 Canadian dollars - others may know of cheaper options - and just discard as soon as you're finished with either process. Good luck!
Great to hear you were successful. I had recently booked (12th June) and then cancelled a trip to Bali because of the holiday period; can i ask what day you applied and what day you collected?
Hi Luke, just out of interest; in your experience how many setv (from all locations) per passport is ok before it becomes a issue with Thai immigration? And approximately what sort of time does someone need to spend between leaving Thailand and then re-entering? Is it just the time it takes to process the visa and then back in or a little longer with each new visa?
Depends on how you travel in. If you’ve travelled in via land twice already and plan to do so again, then it’s an issue. As others have mentioned you’re only allowed 2 land crossings. This then reset on the 1st of January (I think). But, you can fly in as many times as you want ... until immigration stop you.
