I’ve returned from Laos, via the Nong khai border and I’m literally boarding a plane to Bangkok. I obtained a setv but I’ve only been stamped in for 30 days. Can I get this alternated to the 60 days at DMK airport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, after entering Thailand via the Nong Khai border with a SETV, noticed they were stamped in for only 30 days instead of the expected 60 days. They inquired whether they could correct this at DMK airport. In the comments, other users shared experiences of correcting similar stamp issues at immigration offices, including a quick process at Cheang Watthana, where mistakes could be rectified. It was stressed that checking the stamp upon receiving the passport is essential, as mistakes can happen. Ultimately, the user did manage to successfully correct their stamp to the right date.

As
@Robert ******
stated, they are humans. I arrived on an O-A visa and got stamped in for 30 days. Checked direct in front of the desk, mentioned it to the IO , he apologized, amended it correctly to 1 year and problem was solved within minutes with a smile on both side.

As you can read, photo copies, time spent at Immigration. Congratulations that it worked out BUT: Please all, if you enter Thailand, apply for Extension of Stay or a new Visa, when they hand your passport back to you, don't be shy. Open it and check the dates and information put in there. On the other side of the desk there are no robots, there are humans and they can make a mistake. Check directly and if it not as you expected ask and tell, It take minutes to correct if they made a mistake, it take hours to do this in your Immigration Office.

Thanks to everyone who gave their advice. I really appreciate their help. I successfully managed to get the correct stamp date.

So it might help others in the future; I originally stamped in at the Nong Khai border with a SETV obtained from Laos, but instead of getting the correct 'admitted until' date I only received 30 days. I travelled to and then asked immigration at Don Mueng International Airport (I originally arrived at the Domestic side but walked across to the international side) if they could amend the stamp date, but was informed I would have to fly back to the Nong Khai border. Today I headed to CW where I was asked to go to the k1 section. I was then informed that I was in the system with the correct dates for a SETV but the stamp in my passport was incorrect. I was given a 'Application' form to fill in (location of crossing, transport type, passport number, etc) and asked to get 4 photocopies of pages in my passport and sign each. The photocopies were of: Info page / Visa Page / Stamp (with the incorrect 'admitted until' date) / and my tm.6 info card which she had stapled to one of my passport pages). It pretty much took less than 10 mins from the moment I was first seen and was free to do - other than the photocopies (8 baht), which I got from one of the shops downstairs. Hope this helps.

Visit your Immigration Office tomorrow. In Cheang Watthana there is even a special desk for people who did not check the entry stamp and found out later it was incorrect. Or they will correct the stamp with the correct date or they will tell you, sorry you have to go back to the point of entry. Good luck and lesson learned. Always check the stamps when they give you back the passport, there are humans putting these stamps in your passport and they can make mistakes.

Hi Robert, thank you for your advice. I literally just left CW and successfully corrected my stamp date. As you said, they were super quick and it was relatively pain free too. thanks.

@Rik *******
, I was incorrectly stamped in at the Chong Mek border arriving from Laos and went to the Immigration offices at Suan Phlu (before they moved to CW) to do my stamp correction. It was FREE and a quick process. I am certain they can still do it for you at CW as well, if they directed you to that section K1....but as
@Robert ******
has said,
@Tod ********
will reply shortly.

Hi Robert, you mentioned that there was a ‘special desk’. I’m at CW now. The information desk didn’t seem to quite know where to send me. In the end he choose section k1 (visa on arrival / exception / transit visa) I wondered if this seemed correct to you?
Robert *******
Let us know the outcome, good luck.

Apologies, I wondered if you had a idea about what my options might be? Immigration at dmk couldnt help.

Well. CW isn't that far from Don Mueang. I know it's easy to get on a cheap flight to Udon. Though, I hope you won't have to. Good luck!

Only one way to find out then.

I was not insulting you :-) Oh, by the way, this group was started by, and belongs to me. (And the other admin/mod).

I'm not playing anything, I just don't like that somebody think I am a lier. If I say I know a lot of cases without any problem in Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son is because I know them. If somebody say "hard to believe" sounds like I am saying a lie, which is totally impolite and unrespectfull. But you judge to me, and not to the person that insult me, well done Mr Admin.

.

I have seen people with bad stamps from land borders be required to go back to that border to get it corrected, AND I have seen immigration offices correct the stamp too.

Stop playing the who can piss further in the sandbox game right now. >:(

Years in country has no link to knowing anything about anything as the rules change frequently, are different between provinces and are also interpreted differently between Imm Officers and Offices.

I'm longer inside thailand so I know more, it is an argument to use in a discussion. I have read reports of people send back to the land border of entry. But who am I, not that long inside Thailand so I know nothing or should not have an opinion.
Oscar ******************
So, if you don't believe me is your problem. More years than you in this country but still I don't play games about who knows more, just said what I know.

@Oscar *****************
From land borders ? We are here too give 100% advice. I find it hard to believe you know many cases, 10 years here and I only know 1 case personally.
Oscar ******************
Anywhere, you don't need to come back to the same places. As I told you, I know many cases.

@Oscar *****************
depends where the error occured
Oscar ******************
Not me, I always check my passport before, but I know some people did at Inmigration Office in Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son, free cost.

@Oscar *****************
personal experience ?
Lloyd ********
Land border,I have known them to tell you to go back to that border post. Maybe someone has experience of CW changing a land border mistake ?
