For what its worth I used the web system on Monday this week for my 90 day report and it worked fine - approved on Tuesday. I use the Samat Prakan immigeation office.

It depends on the embassy. Some embassies will process tourist vasa without requiring you to be a resident (ie i know this can be done in Canada, but you cant get in there right now). There are reports of people getting visas from Turkey which is open, but I dont have first hand info.

you can not renew a visa. If you are inside Thailand you can apply for a yearly extension for stay off of your original visa, but that cannot be done outside of Thailand

You cannot renew a visa, only apply for a new one.

To get into Thailand currently "resident" means having permanent residency status which is very rare. Its not a visa

I am i same situation and got my 60 day extension in Samut Prakan about 1.5 months ago and they also said I needed to do day reporting starting 90 days after getting the extension.

One thing to add. You can apply for the extension up to the last day of your admitted until date (although I would not leave it that late in case you have to come back with more paperwork). When your application is accepted you will get a new under co nsderation stamp for 30 days allowing you to stay past your original 90 days while they process the visa, gives you2-3 weeks to open the bank account and make the deposit.

Your situation does not meet any of the current criteria for entering into Thailand. I think you would need to petition your local Thai embassy for compassionate permission to enter. Not sure if this is likely to be approved but it cant hurt to ask (other than tbe time it takes you). I would expect you would still have to do quarentine after arriving i BKK though.

visas obtained for people who do not meet the formal requirements for the visa. For the extra fee the rules are bent and you can get a visa that is "real" but if ever investigated by immigration in the future you can have lots of problems since the visa was not obtained legally.

The 60 day extension is for visiting family (Thai spouse or Thai children). Doesnt matter what visa you came into the country on but must have a Thai family member.
