What is the process for obtaining a one-year Non-O marriage visa extension in Thailand?

dear admin,

This year will be the first time I will try to get a one-year extention (non-O marriage), because my embassy doesn't give out multiple entry visas atm, which I normally use.

My question is about the timeline for that: If you need your money 'seasoned' in the bank for 2 months, and you need 1 month for the application proces, then you would have to have your money in the bank already on day 1 of your arrival in Thailand (or before).

As I don't have a Thai bank account yet, that would make it impossible for me.

Is that correct?

I assume it's not possible to get a 2-month extension of my single entry non-O family first, and then ask for the 1-year extension after that. Right?

If this is all true, then is there another option (my wife told me about another non-O option 'take care of child', instead of marriage)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking about the timeline and requirements for obtaining a one-year extension of stay with a Non-O marriage visa in Thailand, particularly regarding the need for 'seasoned' money in a Thai bank account. They are concerned about the necessity of having funds in the account before arrival if the money must be there for two months. They also inquire about the possibility of getting a shorter extension before applying for the full one-year extension and mention an alternative option related to family care.

One thing to add. You can apply for the extension up to the last day of your admitted until date (although I would not leave it that late in case you have to come back with more paperwork). When your application is accepted you will get a new under co nsderation stamp for 30 days allowing you to stay past your original 90 days while they process the visa, gives you2-3 weeks to open the bank account and make the deposit.

oh that's interesting. That would mean I don't have to do the 2month extension first.

With the Single Entry Non Immigrant Visa you get 90 days of stay, you have to organize a bank account if you like to use the 400.000 Thb seasoned money. It must be at least 2 months in your account, so you have some time,

If you run out of time, you can apply first for the 60 days Extension of Stay based on visit family and before this runs out, apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay

Dear Robert, I have a more detailed follow-up question:

I do fill almost all requirements for this scenario, only I have one doubt. Normally the farang will live with his wife in her house. For me that is not the case. For health reasons I cannot live in her province (climate), so I will be inscribed on a different address, in a different province (I think that's TM90 form? done by the owner). I think it's possible to inscribe her on that address as well. But her 'house book' will not change.

Will that present a problem?

If so, I also have the option to ask for non-O 'taking care of child' extension. Would that place less emphasis on her house book matching with my inscribed address?

Thanks again.

so final question: having the choice to do either marriage or take care of child: any reason to choose one over the other (other than the seasoning of the funds)?

I'm primarily worried about 'success chance'. Just want to make sure I get the extension.

forgot to tag you in this final question

for taking care the child, you must be the legal father by family court, not just mentioned on the birth certificate and it stops when the kids get 20 years old,

Being married is as long as you stay married,
