Often it is cheap to fly to kl or penang, suggest using Skyscanner and checking. It can be cheaper than land border runs and quicker.

30 on arrival, 30 extend. Fly out and see Malaysia or vietnam for a few days or hours, then 30 again.

I do this twice a year for my 180 allowance
