Hi all. So I'm making a big plan to travel across Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want an eSim. Anyone got any recommendations? Calls and texts are not really needed , the priority is data and lots of it! Ideally with 5G too but that's not essential. Cheers 👍

Hello, i want to ask for Multi entry Tourist Visa.

In the e-visa form they say that i should provide a genuine reason for asking the multi entry, if not they will give me only the single entry without any refund.

My reason is that i'd like the travel all the south east asia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, i'm a digital nomad and i'm for now just like to live some months in thailand and visit multiple areas.

Is this a valid reason in your opinion? I just want to avoid to waste my money

p.s. I didn't ask for the long term visa because the elite visa is too expensive, i read also about a digital nomad visa but i don't make the minimum money required to ask it (80K$)

Hi everyone, yup I'm a bit slow. Been coming to Thai many years and have had many a wonderful trip. I often visited other countries whilst here so didn't need to worry about 30 or then 45 day visa. Now getting on in years and a permanent girlfriend ( unless she nags too much) need to think about the 60 day online visa for when I'm back in the UK in April to come back June. Best advice please. Thanks.

Ok, I have a bit of an odd question.

I am currently in Thailand on my first extension. I will be leaving less than two weeks into it then returning for a few weeks then leaving again. No, I’ve not been trying to live in Thailand on a tourist visa, but I have been exploring SE Asia to see where I might want to live.

I will be returning to the States, where I’m a citizen, for less than two weeks just after Christmas. I plan to then return. I think at that point it would be best to start the retirement visa process even though I’m still uncertain if I will land in Thailand permanently.

Given that I don’t plan to be in the States very long, does anyone have advice as to how to apply for a visa? It seems I need to wait until I return to apply for the tourist visa and that the time it takes could be longer than the time I’m there. Am I correct in that assumption? Do I need to be in the States to receive it or could I be traveling elsewhere (such as be making a stopover in Japan)? I also wondered if going to Phnom Pehn en route back to Bangkok might be an option, but it’s not an ideal solution. I’ll be traveling with refrigerated medication which has proved challenging in some hotels. One other option would be to get the visa in Cambodia before going to the States, but I don’t know how long the visa is valid.

Any advice is appreciated. I’m a full-time traveler and would prefer not to just sit around waiting for a visa.

TYIA

Update: I really am a tourist, even once I move to Thailand. I will be doing a lot of travel in and out of Thailand even once I get this resolved, so being able to continue to do so will be critical as well. Amongst other things, I have some commitments in Singapore as well as simply wanting to visit other areas in SE Asia. Thanks.

Hello looking for some information on what is the best visa to get for a retired Canadian that would like to stay in Thailand for a year plus without getting a Thai bank account until I settle in a permanent country. I will also be traveling to surrounding countries within the year. Thank you

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting Thailand I'm January, flying into Bangkok and flying out of Bangkok 10 weeks later. Looking to go to northern Thailand for my first 3 weeks then to Vietnam and Cambodia. And back to the south of Thailand before I fly home.

Is it possible to enter on a 30 day visa, spend around 3-4 weeks in Cambodia and Vietnam, then re enter on a 30 day visa? Is this considered acceptable?

Would I need to book a flight to vietnam now to demonstrate I'm leaving Thailand? Or would the flight 10 weeks later be okay?

Questions are asked everyday about getting a SIM card for Thailand. Where to get, what the best operator is and price etc.

Esims are now a very popular option available on most modern phones, or indeed the only option for the new iPhones from the US.

There’s loads of companies out there offering you special deals. Pick one that suits the time and data requirements you may need and order it. Generally they send you an email with a QR code to install it for ease of use. You’ll need two devices, a printer or a friend to help as currently there is no way to scan a QR code from the email to install the sim without using your camera to scan it (or if someone knows an alternative way please advise).

Where the Esims have a major advantage is if they are an “area” Esim like valid for the whole of SE Asia or even worldwide. This means if you are visiting 3 or so countries in that area you don’t need to mess about with buying physical sims for each country and keep swapping them around.

Currently a typical Esim for Thailand is marginally more expensive than their physical counterpart but I’m sure that will change over time. They’re just so convenient. Pre install and it’s ready the moment you touch down.

I’m not going to say one company’s product is better than the others. Google will give you the options to choose from.

The main advantage as I see it is there is no messing about with installing or swapping physical sims, if you are travelling to various countries you can buy one that works in all and you don’t have the danger of losing your original tiny little sim from your own country and all the hassle of replacing that if you did.

Hi all. Is a 30 day extension available on just about any visa type (or exempt visa stay)? I got a 90 day non-immigrant O before leaving Australia, with the intention of going through the whole retirement shebang, but am having 2nd thoughts about it. Can I extend my 90 days by 30? I'm in Chiang Mai, and arrived here early May - visa is due to expire 30 July.

I will visit Thailand in January! Arriving in Bangkok and leaving from Bangkok in March! My trip will last 2 months total! But in between arrival and departure, I will go out of Thailand to go to Vietnam and Cambodgia! Since Il will not stay more than 45 days in a row, do I need a Visa for Thailand?
