TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about extending their stay in Thailand beyond the 30-day visa exemption. Several community members provided solutions including: applying for a 30-day extension at an immigration office for 1,900 Baht, obtaining a 60-day e-visa before arrival, or using a visa agent to handle the application. Additional advice includes ensuring that necessary documents are ready and being aware of potential airline requirements regarding onward tickets.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
Download a form called a TM7, fill it out with the help of an agent. You can do it yourself but my advice it to use an agent. If no agent, go to immigration, pay 1900 THB for the pleasure of a further 30 day stay in the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand.

Just get a visa for the 45 days in your home country before you leave.

You can come 30 days exempt
In case from USA
And get 30 day extension for 1900
A week before your original 30 days is over
Make sure your tm 30 is updated prior or they will fine you for that

Get a tourist visa for 60 days

Just get the 60 day tourist visa online before you go, it’s £30 and if you have a little computer knowledge it’s very easy to apply, take around 5 days to comeback via email.

What is your location? I applied at the London embassy for a 60 day single entry and got it in 2 days it looks daunting to start with, but you can upload everything via a Jpeg , you can also go to an immigration office in Thailand but that'll use up a day and also airlines sometimes ask to see a visa if you are staying over 30 days and can refuse boarding, my advice is do it before you depart. Photo of passport page, photo of yourself passport style, receipt for 1st night stay, screenshot of airline ticket is all you need

Or cross a border for a couple of days and restart 30 days.

Apply for the 60 day visa

If you're comming in exempt you'll have spent the airfare to arrive. Get an evisa online as it's straight forward and you have prior approval for entry. Flight information and your accomodations for your first night are required information on your entry permit regardless of how you enter. An onward ticket showing when you're leaving is required, but sometimes not enforced

If your booking a return flight
To return 45 days later ?
Better you apply for a visa before your holiday

Tuff rules are rules, go down the proper channels to see what your options are.
I know but when can you get that? after a tourist visa? We are now looking to stay in a couple monhs,we are just for "vacation" now, we are both retired
Henrik *****
First of all you need 800.000 Baht / person in a Thai Bank.
Go the the Thailand Embassy website in your country to learn more
Depends if his embassy in TH provide a letter to verify his monthly income or not. Several embassies from countries in europe offer this service, including our norwegian.
If he apply for 90 days Non O at home first he can just use his national bank statements to verify the 65K thb a month. For one year extension in Thailand he needs a letter from his embassy OR 800K thb in a thai bank.
You can apply for a Non O retirement visa from home or in Thailand on a tourist visa. Best way to apply for 90 days Non O at home and after 90 days you can do one year extension of stay locally in Thailand.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.
It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.
No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.
It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).
I'd check with the airline beforehand. Wouldn't boarding with a ticket for return after 45 days when you have only a 30 day visa free stay be a problem ?
The OP doesn't say where he is, but in Bangkok you make an appointment, visit an air conditioned office and are in and out in 30-45 minutes. Maybe that's why I struggle to understand how anyone would want to pay thousands of baht to avoid this
like you say depends where he is, I was in Jontiem , 5 hours in the sun, agent charged 4000 baht which includes the 1900 visa , so cost me 2100 to spend 5 hours by the pool instead of in a queue 😊😊
getting an extension is simple and easy. Most people (even first timers) do not need an agent.

If evisa is available, get an evisa from Thai Embassy from your home country. Evisa good for 60 days. Don't have to worry about spending vacation time at immigration office.

If worried just go to visa agent and they will tell you also charge cheaper than a visa run to Cambodia. Give them a week.
it’s definitely not available yet. I found on another site where Tod Daniels (the visa guru) said it was coming online from March 19 - he was advised directly from the Australian embassy or consulate… I’ll try then. If not I’ll just do an extension in country. If it’s good I’ll try to remember to reply here. Im crossing my fingers it works easy 🤣.
anyone can be refused, at discretion of immigration officer. When you enter the country. The question is why is he worried he will be refused lol.

The question is why do you think you will get refused.?
David ******
Go to an Immigration Office to apply for a 30-day extension at a cost of 1900 Baht. You will need some documents to supply your extension. You can google the Thai immigration website for this information.
