It’s good and refreshing to see someone giving a straightforward, helpful answer without judgement or arrogance. Out of interest, does the same thing apply if you want to change to an extension based on marriage to a Thai? Or would you still be in the same predicament?

Alan Rothwell Well I don't like it mister! You pedantics are all the same, coming over here taking all our jobs, our women and besmirching the name of the great government agencies that are set up to care for us and protect us. Correct that sir!

Bit of a pointless post Scott. I don't think anyone would have missed your absence.

Lewis Kirkpatrick That’s not evidence, It’s flexing. Where’s your proof of double pricing for foreigners who live in Thailand full time? If you can’t prove it, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

Lewis Kirkpatrick That’s not true. It’s far from being “fair” and it’s misleading. Show me evidence of double pricing outside of tourist attractions, Zoos, Temples etc. To be fair, the majority of prices are the same for all. There’s no extra charge at the checkout for being a foreigner. It may be more accurate to say that many Thai people pay less because they don’t shop at the same places as foreigners, don’t eat in the same restaurants as foreigners, but that really depends on where they live and what they have access to. If you’re going to make a statement like that, then you need to give it more context.

Stephen Markham might have been easier just to tell them what they need. Don’t be so judgy, you don’t know the full situation and you don’t need to.

I understand what you’re saying, that’s why I said, if you’re in a solid relationship. Maybe best to stay away from moody females wherever you are in the world. I would agree that it’s best not to rely on them to ensure you feel secure living in Thailand. But, there are plenty of good women in Thailand and plenty of successful relationships. It’s only the bad ones that seem to grab the headlines. Too many people want to tar all Thai women with the same brush. My question really relates to those who are in happy relationships and choose not to get a visa based on marriage.
