Hi everyone! I just got a one year extension on my non-O retirement visa. I have the required funds in my new Thai bank account. I’m thinking I will make deposits monthly of ฿65,000 for the next year at which point I will be able to free up the funds in the account. But my Visa agent just told me that those deposits have to come from a pension not just money or income I have overseas. Is this true? I never saw that anywhere in my research.

Also, I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether using Wise to transfer the funds in will pass muster with immigration. I went to my bank yesterday and asked them for a confirmation letter of international transfer for the initial deposit and they said we don’t do that with Wise.

Hi all.

I’m currently in Phuket on an OA retirement visa. Phuket immigration allows a combination of 400000b bank balance plus monthly pension payments of at least 400000b to give the required 800000b total. Do the same rules apply elsewhere? I will shortly be moving to Trang province and I’m not sure.

Hello, i looked on the net and could not find the answer to my question : i saw that to ask for an O visa, i just need proof (among other things) that my pension is above 2000 euros and no need to have a thai bank account (unless i mistead). Is this still the same when i ask for the 1 year extension? I saw that i might have to have a bank account in thailand just like the O-A. The goal is to avoid the hassle of opening a thai bank account which seems difficult.

Hello,

I was just denied my annual OA extension based on monthly income because I could not show that I have a pension or income in USA. I draw on my brokerage account which has a substantial amount. Is there any appeal process or will I need to put 800K into my account here and leave Thailand come back and apply for O VISA.

Current extension expires Dec 17. Udon thani office

What documents would I need to bring with me to convert a VOA to an NON-O? US citizen 59 retired with a pension that meets minimum requirements. (65k baht)

FBI police clearance, Passport, Pension proof?

The instructions say an 800k baht deposit or a pension. Am I reading that right?

Is it one or the other?

Someone said don't get the O-A

just get the O. What's the difference.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I discover this group today. Very good for newbie like me 😊

I stay in Thailand now since 10 days, 3 months visa. I got a non-immigrant O visa, single entry, (E-visa) because I am married to a Thai woman. But I want to apply to a 1 year visa.

On my confirmation visa email nothing is written at "visa conditions"

On my passport under the red stamp Non-O it is manually written "F-Visa"

So some questions :

1 - Can I get a retirement visa if I arrived with this visa ? I am 63.

If not, is there another solution?

2 - Is there a real difference between married visa or retirement visa except the 400k/800k ? We were married in France so I think that I don't have all the documents to prove our marriage here in Thailand.

3 - My retirement pension is more than 800k/12 months so maybe the first year it is not necessary to ask for marriage visa and so I will have time to get all documents for next year ?

4 - But the first time must we get 800 K on the account ? Or how can we prove the amount of our retirement pension ?

Then the years after just prove that we receive money from abroad every month (it must really be every month or the addition at the end of the year must be > 800K)

5 - Some people say that we also must pay an expensive health insurance, some people say that we don't. What is the truth?

6 - Some friends told me to apply through a visa agency but I don't want to have problems one day at the border when I will come back to Thailand in case of this is not a perfect visa.

And also it is very expensive. If I'm not wrong, the visa alone costs 1900 THB.

7 - I read somewhere that I cannot ask anything until 60 days of presence in Thailand. True ? Because my flight return, if necessary, is the 14th of April and it is not possible to change it.

So if no visa I must flight back on 14th of April. 😭

Will I get enough time to get one ?

I know that it is a lot of questions but worry a lot !!

Some yes or no answers could be enough for some questions 😊

(Maybe it is important to say that my adress is in Pattaya because it seems that some immigration office are more requiring.)

Thanks for help me.

I am hoping to get a retirement visa this year and I believe you need 800K baht to get one. At the moment I hold some money in a savings account with my bank but it does not equate to that value. I have a pension which I can cash in at any time as a lump sum and have received a valuation which when added to the savings equates to well over the 800K baht. My question is do I have to cash the pension in and transfer to my savings account or will the embassy accept the documentation from the pension company?
