TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the confusion regarding the necessity of applying for a visa when holding a visa exemption for entry into Thailand. Several users clarify that if you are from one of the 93 countries eligible for visa exemption, you do not need a visa to enter Thailand; instead, you simply need to show your passport and complete the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card). The TDAC website may experience intermittent issues, but users emphasize the point that one does not need to check for a visa application if they are visa exempt.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be tdac.in.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

I was under the impression that as of May everyone needs to apply online even for a visa exempt. The website repeatedly does not work on many levels…

But I really wonder what in the word “exempt” people don’t understand!!!
Judy *******
You don't need to apply for a visa as you are visa exempt. What you do have to do now is fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Here is the website for that

you can't apply for Visa Exempt on Evisa website as it isn't a visa....just get stamped in for 60 days if your from 1 of 93 countries
Elías ********
If you're visa exempt, you don't need a visa 🤭🤷🏻
Robert *********
I’m guessing OP means the TDAC website not working although I just tried it and it’s working for me
Lynnette *******
Visa exempt means no visa, so you don't need a visa.

he clearly says "Thai visa website" isn't working. As we are pointing out he doesn't need visa for an exempt entry.

should use right words as they're not only two different things but two different websites, also.

@Elías *******
Was that meant to be helpful? Maybe you should choose your words better too. "thighs?"
Elías ********
@Tom ******
it's helpful, if he's visa exempt, he doesn't need to use the visa website, whether the website is working or not. (The TDAC website is a different one).
Wylie *******
Visa exempt means you do not need a visa to enter. Therefore you do not need to apply for one and have no need for the website to work.
Jayson ********
It's can be your browser, just use something else like Chrome or Edge ,
Andrew ********
For visa exempt you just show up with passport and filled out the TDAC and you get 60 days. Tourist visa you can extend 30 days with a fee at immigration
Stephen ********
@Andrew *******
you can also get an extension with visa exempt
Andrew ********
@Stephen *******
yes that was mentioned at bottom
Robert ********
@Andrew *******
Tourist visa is a visa.

Visa exemption means you don’t need and don’t have a visa.
Andrew ********
@Robert *******
look at the web site how it breaks down in THEIR OWN WORDS ... what a TOURIST VISA is ... in their words

1. 60 day tourist VISA which you can apply for ( certain passports require this, nationality) with option to extend this means they had to apply for 60 days before arriving

2. The THAI GOVERNEMNT gives certain nationally an automatic VISA under which means ME AND YOU and alot of people do not have to apply for. The STAMP in your book is a VISA the exempt part is you didnt have to apply show up at boarder with said passport and VISA STAMP 60 days these can also extend for 30 days ...

3. If your nationality DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR or on the list of countries you arrive and only get 15 days here... a VISA STAMP for 15 days .... still a VISA stamp in your book...

If you didnt have a stamp in your book and you are here in thailand ...congrats you are here illegally !!

VISA EXEMPT means you were EXEMPT from applying for 60 days and didnt have to pay

Look in your book what does that say

VISA ................ you have a visa ...... you just didnt apply for it

Want to try again ??
Robert ********
@Andrew *******
A visa is used to enter the country. Once you enter, a visa is used(!) and you get a stamp saying how long you’re allowed to stay(!).

That’s also the reason why it’s call extension of stay and not extension of visa.

So if you don’t get a visa before entering, you don’t have one and you will not get one. You get a permit for staying in the country. That’s what the stamp is for.

I’m not a native English speaker, but I wonder that you don’t understand what an exemption is.
Andrew ********
@Robert *******
wow you are a fucking MORON..... your passport says visa ... wow know what man you do you ... stamp in your book says visa lol you are fucking dumb what i told you came from the Thai government website directly. what a joke. I remember they tried to launch the same a few years ago. It’s 2025 and still can’t build a website
Robert ********
@Jimi ***********
Most problems on the Internet come from too much traffic, not from servers or software on them.

People streaming YouTube videos just to listen to the songs is a serious factor in Thailand.
Andy ************
@Jimi ***********
2025 and how many foreigners are melting down over the very simple to use TDAC entry card system! Often it's the users who are causing the problems!
Robert ********
@Andy ***********
Yup. As a senior software architect of many years I can only agree that the problem almost always sits in front of the display. 🤣
