A month or so ago I read about this issue and pre-empted being blocked by calling in at Kasikorn. They knew nothing about it so called the service centre. I was assured there's no problem, my name matched the SIM card details and my bank application.

This week without warning my bank locked me out and a message read I have to attend my bank branch to verify my id which I did. Signed umpteen tablet signature blocks, had a photo taken, showed my passport, spoke to the call centre, had to provide my previous overseas address and was issued a new passbook for some reason. The app worked again. The following day, blocked. Message, call to branch and take letter/form from SIM card provider stating name, address and id document number.

Back to the bank and went through the process again...

This is on the UK Gov't website today. I got mine last year within 2 weeks. Guess it just depends on their workload at the time?

Can someone living in Canada looking to get a retirement visa and deposit Bt800k in a Thai back easily open a Singaporean bank account then?

And the exchange rate? My bank don't charge a fee at all, but their rate is nowhere near as good as Wise which arrives usually in seconds.

Financially savvy people use Wise. But if you prefer to wait longer and receive less money, banks are a good option.

Why can't you transfer in one go with Wise? I thought Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn you can transfer up to Bt3m and SCB 1,499,000? UK banks limit the transfer size with larger sums being transferable from laptop/PC bank access and smaller amounts via phone apps as far as I know.

Wise is very easy, arguably easier than banks. Wise are generally quicker, offer better rates and can also be flagged as international transfers so long as you select the relevant reason for transfer?
