Hey James. Thanks for sharing the story so far.

You were on an extension of stay that was valid until December 2019, but you stated that your WP got cancelled, therefore it made the extension invalid.

That thread was closed, so no further updates on the situation.

My question is: between April and the time you left to the UK, did you continue to stay on that extension of stay or left the country on the date of the WP being cancelled and continued with tourist visas / visa exempt on the old passport?

Yeah I mean if you are there for a month you can enquire and let us know if you have nothing to lose apart from a little bit of time, but I am pretty confident they stick to the rules on Sri Lankan bank statement.

All the consulates and Embassies on this planet have different requirements. I believe I read a report of someone trying this one out, and failed because of the bank statement not being as required.

Furthermore, the bank statement has to be issued by a local bank in Sri Lanka as described below:

Not sure the OP can replicate my situation as is it. Ticket back to home country, stamped Thai bank statement 10 times the minimum required, several re-entry permits on these SETVs that indicate travelling (not only for visa purposes), and so on. I think he might be better off in HCMC.

What sort of instinctive decision would you like us to make for you? 🙂

No, a multiple entry tourist visa allows multiple entries into Thailand during its validity of 6 months, each entry is limited to maximum 60 days per entry, each entry can be extended for a further 30 days if necessary.

So it doesn't give you "180+ days of living in Thailand".

The fact that people interpret that as: "let's do visa runs to stretch it", and Immigration has allowed it, does not mean the visa itself had been designed for this purpose.

It would be good to know which countries will not take you in, and bounce you further, this Laos story is a bit worrying. I believe the same applies for Indonesia, i recall some articles of people refused entry into Singapore, bounced back to Indonesia, they sent them forward to their home countries....
