I would exercise caution before filing a complaint. The consulate has full authority to reject applications, with or without a reason. Any complaint that causes a scene can be detrimental to future applications.

@John *********
they don't have to give a reason, unfortunately.

I agree with this. Consulate officers reserve the right to reject applications with or without a reason. I was rejected without reason, but simply reapplied to a different consulate and got approved.

The one on Si Lom? What do they require, besides passport and DTV?

@Elías *******
Good to hear that. I also plan to enter and exit frequently over the 180 day period as I have to take care of other business outside Thailand.

@Peter ******
yep, MFA guy said as much. Immigration may refuse to grant extension but you'll still be good for a border run.

Haha, were you watching that old agent on Buzzin Pattaya YouTube channel, weren't you? You do realize no visa agent is gonna have nice things to say about the DTV? It kills their business!

@Ian *********
idiots, really. There's reports some old guys in Pattaya are in trouble after failing to satisfy requirements when they also attempted to do an extension.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: only a complete moron would attempt to do an extension of the DTV. It blows my mind you would take so many trips to the immigration, spend so much time on paperwork, when in that times you could gone to Cambodia or Malaysia or wherever and be back with a fresh-no-questions-asked 180 stay stamp!

If $300 is too much for you then perhaps the whole DTV may not be for you. I had my first application cancelled in August but I simply reapplied without hesitation to another consulate and was approved.
