Has anyone printed their DTV in a reduced size, lamintated it AND been back through customs for a re-entry (with no problems)?

If so, what size did you have it reduced to?

Looking to see the smallest size i can get away with, hoping for A6!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many users have successfully printed and laminated their Digital Tourist Visa (DTV) in A6 size for re-entry into Thailand, with positive experiences reported at customs. It’s recommended to keep a larger paper copy as a backup. Most immigration officers accepted the smaller size without issues, emphasizing that as long as the QR code is scannable, it should work.

I used A6. Passport on one side, DTV on the other. I used it to come in for the first time. Worked like charm.

Only ever had digital copy. Zero issues showing it on my phone multiple times

keep a paper back up, just in case. Just had my phone stolen while travelling and it's a nightmare not having copies of stuff like this

They do but bring a paper copy as backup just in case of not being able to access it on your smartphone.

I have mine printed and laminated on a6 paper no issues whatsoever even got complimented by immigration for doing that

I'm gonna print and laminate mine extra big

Yep mines a tiny bit bigger than my passport immigration officer even gave me a smile as he waved me onward ✌️

Yes, A6. Returned with it last week no issues or questions. Had the paper copy as a backup if asked.

I have a friend that I helped doing exactly that. A6, laminated. Took an A4 with him just to be safe. The immigration officer att BKK airport even said "this is a very good idea". So yes, it works 🙂 As long as they can scan the QR-code, it is OK.

awesome, that’s what I was thinking. As long as qr works should be good

laminating and smaller size might make QR code less readable. You can check readability with your own phone.

On the other hand, why laminate as long as you also can print again when you need one.

cheaper to laminate than to drive to a printers every single time you fly out. Especially for people like me who fly out every 2 to 4 weeks. Yes I can print a few. But there is a possibility of forgetting. I do not use the same bag everytime I fly but I use the same passport.

I expected most people just have a printer themselves, especially digital nomads, but in Thailand a copy shop never is far away.

who on earth uses a printer now? It's digital nomads. DIGITAL

You should be surprised how many printers still are sold in the real world...

Until you approach that one very grumpy immigration officer that insists on a paper copy which it clearly says on the official visa application website that you should do. Where to find that printer then.......?

your caution is noted, but it’s important to address a few points for clarity and accuracy: (maybe you understand now why I want to answer here, I found you disrespectful and out of order so let me put you back where you belong)

1. Laminating a reduced-size DTV visa is not inherently problematic. As long as the QR code remains scannable—which any modern smartphone can easily check—there is no regulation prohibiting lamination or resizing, especially if you’re retaining a full-size backup. Multiple travelers have successfully re-entered Thailand with A6 laminated copies.

2. Thai Immigration is primarily concerned with the legibility of the QR code and official details, not the material or exact size of the document. In fact, some officers have commended laminated formats for durability.

3. Advising against lamination “just because you can print again” is impractical advice for frequent travelers. A laminated A6 version fits conveniently in a passport holder and avoids wear and tear—very practical during long stays.

4. If there were any official regulation or announcement prohibiting such use, it would be publicly listed by Thai Immigration. Until then, encouraging unnecessary fear over simple formatting is misleading.

Let’s stick to facts and shared experiences—unsupported caution isn’t helpful.

I thought your answer wasn’t fully detailed and accurate.😁

Did I ask you something?

What is disrespectful in telling a laminated and smaller version has a less readable QR code, which simply is a fact.

Besides I also said you can check it with your phone, so I did not say you should not laminate nor did I say you should not reduce the size.

The extra details you put in that it is not mentioned as illegal to make a smaller copy is nice, but is not adding any valuable information.

And I did not advice against lamination, only warned to check if it is still readable.

Since you pretend to know everything better, it also might be a good idea you learn to read, you answer proofs your reading ability could use some improvement.

Let's not even talk about etiquette, because you clearly have no knowledge of it at all.

Who do you think you are to put someone in their place?

Laminated mine as A6 size but I'm yet to return to Thailand to use it.
