So it seems some TTB branches in Bangkok can open accounts for DTV holders, particularly DTV holders who work remotely! I can't confirm for the other category of DTV. They showed me a list of 4 items required, of which I was missing just one, which I've attached here. The other items are

1. Passport + DTV stamp inside

2. other ID from your country (license or ID card)

3. DTV proof like letter from employer/ employment contract/

4. The attached image - that's what I didn't have. What is that? It's related to residence though. They didn't care about my TM30.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To open a bank account in Thailand as a DTV holder, you'll need specific documents. According to users, TTB branches may accept DTV holders, but only if you provide a house registration document from your landlord. This should be accompanied by your passport with the DTV stamp, another form of ID from your country, proof of DTV status like a letter from your employer, and potentially other documentation related to residence. It's crucial to ensure that these documents are correctly prepared, as other banks may not accept DTV for account openings.

Yes, within 6 mths. You

u can find posts of DTVers opening accounts themselves or via an agent. Many banks will say no when you do it yourself but eventually you get one that says. Use an agent for efficiency.

It is not going to get any easier opening bank accounts. Property owners might also be reluctant to provide blue books and ID to people they do not know so well.

Hi! I’ve tried one TTB branch in Chiang Mai but they were asking for my Tax # then they will open the account. They advised me to go to Dept of Revenue. Anybody have the same case? Would you get the tax #? I don’t have any clues yet with how the taxes work with the DTV so

Out of curiosity, can I ask how old you are? It’s just that I’ve had agents tell me they can get an account for a DTV holder who is over 50, but not younger.

When getting the blue book from the landlord, copy the first page (has the address and first owner info), also get the page with who the landlord is now as it might not be the person on the first page, you will also need a copy of their Thai ID. Most will do this and it's quite common

this document you can ask the owner of the room or house you rent . They must have it . Very easy to

This is the house registration from your landlord. You need to get it from your landlord with signature if you have a good landlord that will be willing to provide it. Also a side note about opening bank account with a DTV.

So far only TTB will be able to open a bank account on a DTV if you manage to get the house registration with a signature from your landlord. All other banks in Bangkok will not accept DTV as a visa to open a bank account if you do it by yourself

my Muay Thai gym coordinated with Bangkok Bank Ayutthaya to get DTV holders accounts

I know several DTVers who have opened accounts by themselves. There are also posts from similar applicants. It is possible to open a bank account by yourself on a DTV if you are prepared for the leg work. Way easier via an agent but some people prefer DIY.

i don't think so. I was running to different banks these 2 days and they all said no except for TTB.

it depends on the person you speak to, the branch, how you make your case etc. Someone said no to you but another staff member will say yes to someone else. There are posts by DTVers who have opened accounts at other banks. I know 3 who opened at Bangkok Bank, 1 at Kasikorn and another at SCB. It is not easy and can involve days of finding a branch that says yes but it can be done. Yes, house registration/ long term rental agreement was needed for some.

I'm in Bangkok and opened a SCB account
Claire ******
Wayne Billman I was at SCB and they said no to DTV! Which branch did you go? And I believe they also need the house registration document

I went to samrong imperial mall branch. But have heard others had no success. I took residency certificate, passport, Thai driving licence and apartment contract. When the women at the entrance ask what visa I was on I just said the remote working one. Was given a ticket and waited. When they looked at my passport with my DTV I told them to look at the immigration stamp, they checked with the manager I opened the account. I can speak Thai so that made it a bit easier

Strange document, but it appears the top portion is warning for falsifying and the bottom looks like house book document. So I'd imagine a residence certificate from immigration along with copy of owners house book for the same address and owners ID card back and front.

Is it not a copy of blue book from the property owner? Pretty sure a post a few weeks ago mentioned same thing. PS: if you can get all of this then extension in country should be no problem :-)
