Will the KTB and TTB merger make it more difficult for DTV holders to open bank accounts in Thailand?

If, as reported here: [members only] KTB and TTB merge, I imagine it'll even be harder to open a bank account with a DTV. Currently TTB is the most chill bank for DTV holders but after the merger, who knows?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Concerns are rising among expats regarding the potential merger between Krung Thai Bank (KTB) and TMBThanachart Bank (TTB), which could impact the ease of opening bank accounts for Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) holders. Currently, TTB is known for being accommodating to DTV holders, but the merger might complicate this situation. Community comments reflect skepticism about the impact of the merger, with some asserting that alternative methods, potentially involving bribes, may surface to facilitate account openings if necessary.

In 5 years you could theoretically spend 1,455 days in the country out of 1460. Times are changing you old, sour man.

I doubt whether this will make any difference at all.

Dont worry, if it will really become „impossible“, you can be sure there will be plenty of „agents“, who will help you open your bank account for a nice little 5-figure bribe
