I did a COVID extension today in Chaeng Wattana from an NON-ED. I was not asked any questions. Just showed the forms, passport copies and TM30 which was stamped and I had to sign.

I got an under consideration stamp until August 9th

Putting the re-entry permit number on the entry portion of the TM6 reminds them not to just give you a visa waiver stamp. At least that has been my experience.

I think there may be requirements for your Thai husband regarding his employment or income. They will tell him.

90 day reports have to do with being in Thailand for 90 days at a time and nothing else.

if you were in Thailand 88 days, left then and then came back, then repeated for the rest of your life, you would never need to do a 90 day report

I found have that when using Wise to transfer to Bangkok Bank and I select the reason as "long term stay in Thailand" it codes as an international transfer. If you select another reason or use a different bank then maybe not. It's worth doing some test transfers to see how they code, depending on what bank you have. The code should show up in your passbook.

optimally you would arrive on a NON-B obtained outside Thailand. I doubt your school will go for this but it’s good to ask.

It’s important to get a work permit as absolutely fast as possible. Also keep in mind that the ministry of education and the teachers council have to get you a teachers license and they always have “new” requirements. That takes times and money.

A lot of schools will give you “no problem!” as an answer to every question, right until you are on a bus to the Cambodian border because they were lazy.

Study the current requirements for your teachers license and work permit so that you know what to expect.

If you do get a work permit, it’s yours though you do have to cancel it if you lose your job (if you ever want another one). You have a right to keep it, though many schools like to get possessive about them. If they don’t give it to you ask them very politely every day until you get it.

If they ask why then say that you need to show it to an embassy or open a bank account or something. Then “forget” to give it back to them. Do not lose it.

Good luck, enjoy teaching. make sure you don’t upset the Thai teacher you work with even if she is a real piece of work.
