Do I need a 30-day tourist visa extension before applying for a 60-day COVID extension in Thailand?

Normally you need a 30 day extension on a visa waiver stamp before you can apply for a COVID extension.

By the 25th of August when the current scheme deadline is, you will have about 2 to 3 weeks remaining and with that as the only consideration they might well give you a stamp.

MOST offices make people take the 30 day regular extension you can get from a 30 day free entry stamp BEFORE you can apply for the 60 day covid extension.

So that you want the covid extension doesn't mean you can get it without taking the 30 day extension first.

GO ask them at that immigration office and see what they'll say. The worst they can say is no you can't get a covid extension until you take the 30 day one you're allowed.
