Is there any harm in getting a 7 day “extension denied” stamp? I want to stick around another week before I do a border run to renew my entry stamp on my METV.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Receiving a 7-day 'extension denied' stamp can be detrimental for travelers holding a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa). It may limit future border crossings, especially into countries like Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia, and is generally not advisable. It’s suggested to utilize the automatic 30-day extension available with a METV instead.

you pull that 7 day get out of dodge stamp and you just closed a BUNCH of borders that you might have bounced at
If you're flying out and back you should be okay, BUT otherwise convenient or inconvenient I'd say you need to bounce and NOT take that stamp
I think most all the borders in cambodia won't let you bounce if you pull that 7 day stamp AND seeing as burma's closed that leaves Lao or Malaysia to bounce at or you fly

Don't do it! That is NOT the kind of STAMP you want to see in your passport. IT has a purpose and as you have a METV what you are asking is not needed.
It's USED when you make application for an extension of stay... And it appears that you already have a METV in your passport.
Have you ALREADY obtained the 30 days extension of stay that you are entitled to with your METV?

Correct... The 7 days DENIED extension is not applicable to you as you already have a valid METV multiple entry tourist visa in your passport.
i already got the 30 day extension of stay. It expires tomorrow.
I know how the METV works, it’s just that the timing of a border run tomorrow is inconvenient and I would rather do it next week. So instead of the border run I would ask immigration for another extension, which they would deny and give me another week.
But you’re saying the “extension denied” stamp will be a red flag in my passport? That’s basically what I am asking.
