it's a bit stupid though, even if it's a technicality, but if you can stay for 180 days in a country and when you come back you get another 180 days you are kinda living in that country lol

Anonymous participant yeah not sure if it's the best option. Tbh Ive also been thinking about it, I have a Muay Thai course of 9 months, maybe I'll just sign up again once I finish it to be 'safe' with the DTV, since it's going to be cheaper to pay for Muay Thai than getting a visa like Thai elite. I guess we'll know more about it in a few years anyways, I think it's unlikely they ask you a lot if you just got the visa, but maybe on the 3rd or 4th year they will be more aggressive

Rental yields are generally kinda bad in Thailand and despite being an oversupply of housing (Generally) they still keep building more newbuilds, so I woulnd't buy. Plus, consider that you are a foreigner so it's unlikely you will find a great deal (more like the other way around). Fertility rate in Thailand is also in the gutter, so I don't see demand picking up long term. I think you'll be better off renting and investing the money somewhere else.

That would make too much sense so I guess that won't possible 🤣

yeah that's what people don't understand, for a lot of people it's better to 'pay' some tax in Thailand even if low, so you have some tax certificate to show your home country if they ever ask. If I may ask, what tax attorney did you contact? I have some questions regarding taxation. Anyways, good luck with all this, I'm considering moving to Thailand next year under dtv but it's kinda difficult to pay tax when creating a Thai bank account is hard under dtv

Interesting, how long are they taking to process the visa then? Because if I go to Laos I can stay there for one month and in theory I can't leave the country until the DTV process is finished... I wanted to do it in Laos but I might have to reconsider

I'm Spanish and I understand what you are saying but in this case it doesn't make any sense to blame Spain when it's the Thai's Spanish embassy lol

If you apply through soft power do you get a visa for the duration of the activity or for 5 years? I mean, if I sign up for Muay Thai classes for 6 months-1 year whatever, do I get DTV for that period or 5 years

Interesting, is it hard getting a bank account while on DTV? Do other banks have similar requirements?
