Can I apply for a DTV visa in Thailand being unemployed with sufficient funds and Muay Thai training support?

Hi guy's.

I'm 46, unemployed as I don't need to work anymore.

I want to apply for the DTV visa.

I have a Thai bank account with the 500k.

I have the letter from the Muay Thai school for 1 yr that I attend every day.

I have a 1 yr rental contract for my apartment.

I've seen from lots of different people's post's that they asK for proof of employment etc.

I obviously can't provide that as I'm retired.

Has anyone else applied in my situation?

Thank you for any feedback.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a 46-year-old unemployed expat, is seeking advice on applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand while not formally employed and having sufficient funds in a Thai bank account. They possess a year's worth of interaction with a Muay Thai school and a rental agreement. There is reassurance from commenters that being unemployed should not impede the visa application process, especially with proof of funds exceeding the required 500,000 baht. Some suggest considering alternative visa options like the Thai Privilege Visa or Elite Visa for simplicity. Additional advice includes including a cover letter detailing financial support and emphasizing the Muay Thai training as an activity to support the application.

Tick unemployed just show not only the 500k but more to support your stay in Thailand

Just buy an Elite Visa.

Just a thought guys, let me know what you think.

If I was to put 1,000,000 baht in my account would that eliminate any questions about funds?

Sorry if I'm asking questions that have been previously discussed, I just want to make sure I get this right as it takes me right up to retirement visa age.
Todd *********
Anonymous participant it’s irrelevant. They don’t care. 500k or 5 million = same thing

thank you, was just thinking it might cut out any doubts that I have sufficient funds.

Anonymous participant Some embassies insist on employment doc, but plenty do not. Where are you going to apply?

I got dtv for soft power.i just put unemployed and it wasn't a problem. I did have quite a bit more than the 500,000 baht and it wasn't even discussed at the interview.
Adrian ******
I signed up with (discoverthainature) it's I day a month for for the duration of the 5 year dtv. The cost was
*****
baht. From what I have read 6 months muay thai seems to be the norm for the dtv. Hope this helps

@Adrian *****
If you apply through soft power do you get a visa for the duration of the activity or for 5 years? I mean, if I sign up for Muay Thai classes for 6 months-1 year whatever, do I get DTV for that period or 5 years

yes you get a 5yr multiple entry visa, you may be asked at a later stage for proof of a training camp and possibly proof of funds. But as far as I know once you get approved there are no further requirements at the moment.

But hey it's Thailand, laws and rules change quite regularly lol.

Anonymous participant I'm retired, not official retirement age but I just put unemployed and like I said it wasn't even mentioned at the interview. That was at Vientiane. I think I had about

thank you buddy, that's where I was going to apply.

Did you have the money in the account many months before applying?

I only transferred my money over about a month ago, I've read that it's better to have it in a few months before applying.
Adrian ******
Anonymous participant best of luck.

You don't need to be employed to apply using Muay Thai. You just need to show a contract from an approved gym for 6 months or longer. They may also want you to show how you can support yourself so if you pay yourself a monthly allowance from investments or whatever including that in a covering letter would be a good idea

You will be fine as long as you ignore all the dills who answer with ridiculous incorrect information

Yes. Don't listen to 847. You've got to filter out the nonsense on any Facebook group

Just get Thai Privilege Visa. Far more simple process, and you don’t need to constantly go in and out or renew

I train Muay Thai everyday so I thought I may as well go for the DTV as I'm genuinely applying for the correct use of it.
Todd *********
Anonymous participant the Muay Thai use is totally correct. And you don’t need to prove income at all. Just have the 500k in the bank. And perhaps a cover letter to accompany. No requirement for employment income. But Thai privilege is definitely a great visa for under 50. Also make sure that you don’t qualify for an LTR visa. It’s by far the best option

Unemployment is a relaxed lifestyle, I highly recommend it!

Mate you will be fine as long as you provide all the paperwork no issues

How about the elite visa
Oswald *******
Anonymous participant 462 Yep I got the elite visa, I'm treated like a Queen here!
