TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenges of opening a Bangkok bank account under the Digital Tourist Visa (DTV), particularly when it involves subscribing to an insurance product. The insurance has a minimum term of three years at a cost of 57,000 baht per year, with a promise of majority return after three years. Many participants express skepticism regarding the value of such insurance and share alternative banking options or experiences. Questions arise about the conditions for obtaining the account and whether a long-term lease or property ownership is necessary.
Look into tag thai using the pay & tour card. It's will give you access to the QR code scanning and once you've got the card you can top it up from the app. I've never used it so I'm not sure if there is an atm withdrawal cost. Check it out, may be useful to you.

Interesting, is it hard getting a bank account while on DTV? Do other banks have similar requirements?
Yes, it is quite difficult getting a bank account on a DTV or any tourist visa. Things have tightened up considerably recently.

. Or use a bank with a qr- code ( like a Cambodian bank) and pay in Khmer cash in Thailand.

Nice to see the banks have upped their game. They always were being too lenient by giving out bank accounts in return of a cheapo accident policy that wouldnβt even cover a broken arm.
it's just not the right insurance for me i need a medical and life

That is pretty steep for insurance. It used to be a one off 7k for insurance product in the past if you were doing it without agent
