The 'family visa' is generally for guardians/dependant relatives as opposed to marriage. It's the same visa(non imm O) but issued for different criteria and with different requirements

You cant get the 1 year "family visa" at Savannakhet without showing finances only the non imm O based on marriage.

400k 2 month's prior is for the yearly extention of stay, there's no seasoning required for the non imm O visa.

It's all about reciprocating, when other Countries give Thai citizens visa exemptions then maybe they'll get longer visa exemptions for Thailand
