Does anyone know if the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, Laos is open and processing visas?

Also what requirements, apart from a visa, to enter Laos (UK Citizen)?

Sound advice appreciated, no guessing please.

sadly, this is about leaving Laos to enter Thailand. I have heard of no cases where non-workers are able to enter Laos.

oh yes not heard of anyone entering either except for critical workers, i know of one guy who had to work on a dam.

But was answering his question whether embassy is open. Which it is.

Yes it is actually open and people who have been stuck in Laos have been able to get into Thailand that way, there was a post about it a couple of weeks ago including contact numbers.

Still subject to coe quarantine insurance etc, plus a hefty lump for ambulance/mini van to take you from border to ASQ

As of right now, the Lao government is not issuing tourist visas. They are only issuing employment visas - and from what I headed, only the state run/ state approved projects.

I don't know about covid-times to enter Lao, but in normal times it's a passport photo and some US dollars cash (30?). I think that the land borders might still be closed, though.

Steve. Just looked at the travel advice on the UK government website and it appears quarantine only required if someone tests positive on entry. However, it appears visas are not readily available.

Apparently Laos arent issuing visas on arrival but there are flights to Laos. Some Thai Consulates/Embassys still issue ME visas, Savannakhet being one of them. Anyway my questions have been answered.
