TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on obtaining a 1-year multi-entry family visa for Thailand at the Savannakhet consulate in Laos without the need for proof of finances. While Savannakhet is highlighted as a straightforward option with specific documentation requirements, some users mention that other locations, such as Ho Chi Minh City, may have changed their policies. Additionally, the possibility of obtaining a work permit on these visas seems confirmed by comments from the community.

The 'family visa' is generally for guardians/dependant relatives as opposed to marriage. It's the same visa(non imm O) but issued for different criteria and with different requirements

Same sphere of visas, generally people refer to the "family visa" as the a Non-O based on Thai children though.

Yep. Straight forward no hassle providing you have the following documentation

I did it just 2 weeks ago

Requirements No proof funds required

Completed Visa application from Savanakhet Consulate website

Passport with 2 photos

Original marriage certificate plus 1 copy

Cop of blue book signed by wife in blue ink

Copy of wifeโ€™s ID card signed in blue ink front and back

Copy of visa entry into Laos

5000 baht in cash

Done and dusted

Get there early ideally on a Tuesday or Wednesday other days are hectic

Good luck ๐Ÿ‘

I believe that is correct as HCMC used to do it but no longer do. It's a simple 2 day process at Savannakhet and a walk-in service (go midweek).
