In Jomtien it was never free, but you might be right.

It's 300thb at your immigration. Bring your passport, your rental agreement, copy housebook and copy ID of landlord. Make sure your landlord has registered you before.

If your host has a Hotel license, it would be legal, but Riviera Jomtien isn't a Hotel.

For 2 nights I would book some Hotel on Agoda.
