If over 50 and can stretch to 800k, I recommend getting a Retirement 90 day O visa and extending it in Thailand. A lot less onerous hassle to extend annually too.

I have solved the problem. Successive US presidents and others always say 'God bless America; the greatest country in the World'. So when asked where they are from US citizens should not say that they are American but say that they are the 'Greatest Counts' from the greatest country in the world...😉.

"Other places around the world will look quizzical at you if you say you’re from the United States instead of America". Well be clear and say you are from the United States of America. Most will have heard of the USA. But thats not the issue. In S. America they will say Im Argentinian or Peruvian or Colombian or the like but there is no name for USAians and there should be.

Good to see you use 'Yanks'. A modern word to name them, so as not to insult the rest of the continent of America is sorely needed.

When I flew home with them at the start of the pandemic, I found it ironical that I had less leg room for 12 hours than on my 1 hour Thai Smile flight to Bangkok. Food and service was very good though.

Can someone please confirm how long the 800k in the bank for a retirement extension has to be in the bank before you can dip in to it down to 400k? Also when does it have to be topped up again to 800k before the next extension? Is it 2 months the same as with the 1st extension? Thanks.
