What are the best currency exchange options at Suvarnabhumi Airport for arrival?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Just a heads up for those arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport wanting to change money on arrival. The 1st photo is the exchange rate right now at the Kasikorn Bank booth at the top of the ramp from the airport link train in the basement. The second photo above is the exchange rate for the same bank down the ramp behind the train departures and arrivals. Here they offer the significantly better exchange rate as their rivals Super rich and Happy rich. These are the best rates you can get in the airport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For expats arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand, it is important to be aware of the currency exchange rates available at the airport. The Kasikorn Bank booth at the top of the ramp offers a certain rate, but many commenters advise that better rates can be found at the Super Rich and Happy Rich booths located in the basement near the Airport Rail Link. While some users suggest avoiding airport exchanges entirely, others highlight that the rates in the basement are now competitive and often better than those found downtown. Overall, it's recommended to check multiple booths for the best rates before exchanging currency.
Falcon *******
Never Never change at the airport its a rip-off, go into town Look for Super Rich Exchange extremely good rates.
Chris *********************
Go in the basement where train station is k bank and super rich is a long way better about 45.5 for pound
คุกกี้ ********
The best exchange rate is Thailand is Superrich Thailand. This company offers the highest exchange rate in Thailand. They have some branches in Central world, gaysorn. But if you visit their main office. They offer the highest exchange currency
Henrik *****
They want you to believe that, but the only way to make sure, is to compare yourself.

Furthermore the differences will be so small, that it will make no sense, to go out of your way, to get a slightly better rate.
Neville ********
You can get better rates when in malls
Ross **********
A lot of penny pinchers worried about a small amount of difference 😂😂
Peter ********
@Ross *********
Exactly. And these people will drive 20 miles to get a better rate and have an accident en route.

Rate in cash is 36.47 to usd

Why would anyone sell their money back? Especially if you get a good rate. if you’re planning on going back to Thailand, just bring the Thai baht home with you, then you have it for the next trip. There’s a good chance. Next time you come to Thailand, the price might drop. You should only exchange what you’re planning on spending anyway, just losing money selling the Baht back.
Nongnuch ********
@Terry *******
I must complain. You info is not true. All three money changers, Happyrich, Superrich and Kasikorn at the platform of the "Airport Rail Link" offer the exactly same exchange rates. At the moment you will get 36.62.- Thai Baht per U.S. Dollar at the Superrich booth. . . . . . it's a typical newbie mistake to use a money changer in the upper levels of the Suvarnabhumi Airport. The three moneychangers in the basement give you the BEST RATE of the whole of Thailand. This is NO exaggeration! Only maybe at the Superrich headquarter downtown Bangkok you might be able to gain 0.05 THB more worth
Paul ********
@Nongnuch *******
Finally someone who knows what he's talking about.

I've been living , working and now visiting Thailand for over 30 years.

As you said , the best rates are in the basement near the airport link ticket office. As you also said , super rich do give very slightly better rates at their head office. Not only their head office though , their other downtown booths are also slightly better than their airport exchange booth but it is a miniscule difference.

Also the posters that keep repeatedly saying " you get the worst rates at airports , who would be so stupid to change money at an airport blah blah blah" . You people clearly don't know that downstairs in the basement the rates are totally different to the traps just before and after immigration.

not at the Suvarnabhumi Airport. It's a typical newbie mistake to use a money changer in the upper levels of the Suvarnabhumi Airport. The three moneychangers in the basement give you the BEST RATE of the whole of Thailand! At the moment it's 36.62.- THB per 1 USD

@Nongnuch *******
The best rates in Thailand are offered by TT money exchange
Nongnuch ********
@Tam **********
no, they are not. At the Pattaya TT-Exchangers the rate is always a little less than Superrich and SiamExchange in Bangkok. You can easily check. You get 36.62.- THB per USD at the moment at SiamExchange. How much does TT exchange give you?
Andrew **********
if that’s right now then the rates are really poor.
Michael *********
This is why you shouldn't panic & get baht at the airport.

I happily prove you wrong. Superrich in the basement of the airport has the best rates in town.

Everyone in this group knows that, except the guy working in money exchange himself? That's peculiar 🤔
Mark *******
@Bart *************
ok whoever is travelling through this area in the near future please take photos of the exchange rates please.

And if you had read my comments I didn’t say I was currently working I said previously and the reason why they give you a bad exchange rate is you have just landed in a foreign country and “most” people then try to get some local currency or you are leaving the country and want to exchange the currency back to your countries currency so it’s the “best” place to exchange according to you.
Bart **************

When you get to phaya thai exchange rate is better on the top ramp rather than below.
Brett **************
I got a better exchange rate using an ATM, even with 220 Baht charge and my bank fees.(34 Baht to 1 USD.)

Got 35 Baht to 1 USD at a kiosk on the street in Chiang. (They initially offered high 33 Baht, but went to 35 when I exchanged $3000 USD, All pristine bils, except one had a mark on the back. She looked like she wanted to reject the marked one. I said "all or none." She accepted it (is was a small mark).

Super rich at Pattaya was disappointing. There were other booths giving 2 bhts more. Cannot understand.

I wouldn’t change at the airport at all. Exchange rates are much better in the City.

Example Buying Swiss Francs: 37.83 vs 40.15 at Super rich in Bangkok. You get 6% more THB.

Simple my friend. That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I’m not wasting my time on his comment. Maybe he has a shitty bank. That’s quite likely actually. A lot of people do and then they generalize.

@Jason *******
OK if you thai Account. But if you have a foreign Account your going to be charged a Fee from Thai bank and charged by home country's bank then charged 2.5% conversion by foreign bank.
Peter ********
@Dicks *****
That’s just total BS. Anyone who has a 2.5% charge is either dumb or lazy or rich. Or all 3. I pay zero %. I’m kind of tired of “experts” on FB who really don’t know anything other than their own small world. Sorry to say.

@Dicks *****
conversions yes. But but less than 2.5. And my bank doesn’t charge atm fees and reimburses all outside fees.

Not sure why you would fly in to another country with out having any usable Currency when you arrive

Airport rates are notoriously poor

Good information though
Terry ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
I am quite shocked how few people have actually read and understood my post. If anyone had bothered to check the rates in the second photo, as only one or two realised and commented, they would appreciate that these are excellent exchange rates and better than they could get anywhere in Thailand excepting Super rich and Happy rich in the very few places that they operate.
Jon ******
@Peter *********
I'm in the United States where would I get baht notes, sorry for being ignorant about this.
Peter **********
@Jon *****
any Bank can supply you with Foreign Currency , but the rates may not be good, I would suggest you get enough to last you a week $600 dollars worth

Then bring dollars with you to exchange for BHT

All the Tourist Places have Multiple Bureaux de Change Kiosks as do the Major Cities usually in the Shopping Malls

Avoid using your credit card in an ATM

the rates are appalling and they will charge a fee

If you are coming long term a Thai Bank account is a good idea and then use Wise Money Transfer app to transfer money from your USA Bank to Thai Bank or any one in Thailand with a Thai bank account

It’s a bit of a long reply

Hope this helps

sadly, a common “third-world” situation that abuses world travelers. First -world airports do not let regulated airport concessions/vendors have such anti-consumer practices.
