Will Thai immigration accept travel insurance covering only 5 or 6 months for an OA visa?

I am in the UK and applying for an OA visa to hopefully enter Thailand in December. I cannot/dont want to stay for 1 year so will book a return flight to return in 5 or 6 months time. I want to know if, when shown my return flight date, Thai immigration at Suvarnabhumi will accept travel insurance with the required Covid cover for the 5/6 months or will they insist on insurance with 1 year's cover?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirements for travel insurance when applying for an OA visa to Thailand. The user seeks confirmation that showing a return flight for 5-6 months will suffice for Thai immigration regarding travel insurance coverage. Comments highlight differing experiences, with some users advocating for a full year of COVID-19 insurance while others suggest that insurance only needs to cover the duration of the stay. Additionally, there are discussions around the complexities of the visa rules and experiences of others who have recently entered Thailand.

Ok we all love Thailand that’s why we want to get back to Thailand BUT we all should know that in Thailand the officials love to move the goal posts and make up new rules for there own reasons that we can’t work out so stay calm

You'll need a year as you'll be stamped in for a year regardless of whether you leave in 5-6 months or not.

Following with interest as I have been informed you need 12 months Covid cover to enter, I hope someone from the U.K. can clarify that has had a shorter cover accepted applying for an OA CoE.

I’m not arguing with people who say you don’t need a year but my personal experience is that when I entered 10 days ago they pulled me to one side and checked I had a year Thai heath insurance at immigration at the airport.

May be they didn’t know.

From comments I have previously read it seems you don’t need a year.

Only trying to help.

Best of luck.

I got from Pacific Cross but as you will read here they don’t cover you for the first 15 days. I was flying with emirates so I wasn’t too concerned but I realise that wouldn’t appeal to most people.

And the cost was around £800 for a year.

You only need to have a policy that covers the time you are in Thailand. I got mine starting the day I arrived and ends a day after I leave. 2 months total. Don’t get more than you need. I am out of ASQ Saturday

Of course! That is what Thai immigration will be looking at, not the plane ticket, and that is what my question relates to; my visa and insurance.

Get a years Covid insurance and cancel after 6 months is easiest solution. You will still have to do 14 days in ASQ at your expense
