Is Tricare US Military Medical Insurance accepted for OA Visa?
Are there any US Military Retirees who recently applied and received the OA Visa? I need to confirm if Tricare Insurance is accepted, based on the requirements for the OA Visa of 300,000 THB or $100k per policy year. Would love hear back from my fellow retiree’s. Thanks
I am currently working and I qualify for a retirement pension next year. I have met someone in Thailand that I would like to marry. I plan to visit Thailand later this year and I am considering to initiate marriage then. My goal is to become a Thai citizen to qualify for health care asap as taking out private health insurance long term would be very expensive or prohibited due to some pre-existing health conditions. I am getting married primarily because of the quality of the relationship, rather than for other reasons.
What do you consider as the best route to establishing long-term pathway to living in Thailand in my situation, preferably to include public health care. My pension will pay about 38,000 baht a month and l could get over the 40,000 baht threshold with bank interest payments.
I believe it takes 3 years to get citizenship in Thailand, does this have to be spent continuously living in Thailand, or can I spend a year after marriage in my own country to settle all my affairs and travel to Thailand every 6 or 3 months during this time. What do you suggest is the best pathway for me. Thanks in advance.
Long post, but please help a stressed but caring daughter out 🙏🏼
My dad (73) has been living in Thailand on various visas and using agents for about 6 years, so he's not new to it all.
He let his retirement visa go well over a year ago (maybe more) and has been on 90 day runs in and out, plus 6 months in the UK last year.
When he went back to Thailand at Christmas he had a warning (I think) about too many trips in and out. He's since left for a bit and travelling about but doesnt like it and wants to get back to Thailand.
Can he at some point soon or end of the year go back and start the 90 days visa trips for a period of time?
Also he thinks he can start again with getting a new retirement visa with an agency BUT he doesn't meet criteria of lump sum in the bank (I know theres companies).
Also he doesn't meet criteria of minimum income of £1500 a month.
Also he has no health insurance and probably cant afford it.
Is he flogging a dead horse, so to speak? 😂
Can he navigate around everything to continue living in Thailand if he takes a 6 or 12 month break away?
Thanks if you've got this far, I just don't want him to eff it up and leave me sorting it all and housing him back here in UK
Hi, I obtained my non-immigrant OA retirement visa last March in France. Now that I'm settled in Pattaya, have a 12-month lease, have opened a bank account, and my insurance is about to be renewed for another year, what should I do before my visa expires? Should I stay on the OA visa or apply for the O visa? What do you advise?
O-X Visa: who has this visa and can comments on pros and cons? I have a Bangkok Bank account and can transfer the 3 Million baht; this technically has me fulfill all requirements to apply from NYC. Here's what I've gathered:
CONS
1. Mandatory Health Insurance from a limited number of providers.
2. Mandatory 90 day reporting (1st in person, subsequent online)
3. Long stay tax liability/filing.
4. Not sure what investment products I have access to in Bangkok on my funds: need to research CD rates.
5. Odd process: what if I deposit the funds and then decide not to come or delay my arrival? Are the deposited funds easily accessible/repartiatable back to the US?
PROS
1. 5 Year duration.
2. Fees are reasonable: 400$
I know I can get a Non O and apply for an extension of status; that's an option but O-X might be better.
So i am a little confused when applying for the non o visa on the thai e visa website, some have said that you do not need the health insurance for the non o (90 days) but when you pick the sub category (1 year extention ) retirement you need it . I thought you can go into thailand on the non o and do everything there within 90 days to get your non oa . So the wyestion is do i need the health insurance when applying for the 90 days non o or not.
