Has anyone recently claimed there UK state pension, mine is due this year, I have contacted the international DWP, and they sent me a form electronically which a lot of the questions I have no answer, I was told before I came here in 2023 that I could do the claim over the phone, I was also told this by the DWP in the UK before I came, is this still the situation, many thanks in advance for any advice.
Thanks for the actually helpful feedback on the CoR reissue. To the rest of the armchair experts and bored goofballs: If I wanted a lecture on life in Thailand from people who obviously don't even live here, I would've asked.
This conversation is the perfect example of why most people stop talking to the expat community here. It’s all noise and no substance.

New motorcycle registration:
Sorry, this has nothing to do with the visa – I bought a new motorcycle from Honda in Surat Thani on September 16, 2025. I gave the saleswoman my "certificate of residence", and she told me I would receive my white license plate in 4–6 weeks. – After 8 weeks, I sent a reminder, and she apologized, saying she had forgotten about my registration and that my registration certificate had unfortunately expired. She needed a new one. That's the only job she had! – Two weeks ago, I sent a new certificate to Honda in Surat Thani, and after asking for proof 2–3 times, she told me again that it would take another 4–6 weeks for the white license plate to be issued. – I am really pissed and have completely lost trust in this person. She can't provide any evidence for her statements. This all seems very suspicious to me… – What do you advise? – Should I call her boss or go to the tourist police immediately? - Thanks for feedback!
Now that 2025 has come to an end, anyone with a DTV that stayed more than 180 days in Thailand has to file taxes. I tried informing myself about this topic but I’ve received a lot of conflicting information (the revenue department telling DTVs don’t pay taxes, etc). Can anyone recommend a highly qualified tax accountant and what is everyone else doing here?
This post is about "everything else". Been using the yellow bank for a couple of decades, atm, online website, foreign transfers, etc. Some days ago got a notice they were dropping the online website and to use the phone app instead. This happened a year or so ago with the purple bank, and everthing went smoothly. Yesterday I went to the original yellow bank branch and they required SIM card mobile data turned on in the registerd phone number as well as a letter from the phone co saying it was my number. I complied and today I returned. After all the photocopying and signing, they told me I was no longer elegible to sign up for the phone banking app because I was already 70. Went to a second branch where they confirmed the same. Passbook and atm are still useable. If I had the phone banking before 70, I could still keep using it. First time am denied a public service because of age. Moral: get your phone banking app while you are still young... 😀
I am an client of SBC brokers but not for much longer. I don’t have any pre-existing conditions and I was promised my bills would be covered in full. I had an emergency where I almost died and the hospital threw me to the streets because I could not pay usd 5000-10.000 upfront. The doctors said I would probably die but what do you do when you have a shit insurance and doesn’t have a300,000 dollars limit on you credit card. Safe your life and find a proper insurance brokerage. Does this look pre-existing?
Well just tried to open an account with Krungthai. Was originally told, by a higher up employee. Bring passport and thats it.
Show up. They now require a pink ID card and a yellow book that you are registered under. Haha what is happening with the banking system here. MIND YOU I already have a business account with them, that was opened in the same branch.
I am 20years old and currently a dual citizen Thai and British and was wondering about this Service Liabilty Letter on my Uk army application. It says about proof of not being called back for national service. Although I’ve just recently finished my 1 year national service with documents saying I’ve finished my duty.
Sorry if it’s asked a lot but re: freelancers on a DTV visa staying more than 6 months per year ..how hard is it to get a tax ID to start paying tax in Thailand? I’ve heard banks are reluctant to give them to folk on DTV
Many of us are struggling of opening or maintaining a thai bank account. I found one option suitable for us in the mean time if we dont want to pay 15000 to agent to open bank account : [members only]
Foreigners can open true money wallet with the limit amounf of 50000 Baht per month and 30000 baht of transaction per day
For me this option can help with our daily transactions .
