You hold up your life waiting for a possible Thailand government initiative? Seriously? I'm sure you're joking! I've lived here for 15 years and if I had a dollar for every "proposal" put forward by the government which was never followed through, I'd be sitting in my Ferrari right now! This was the last one. It's a long mull!

And just think what you can do with the 15-20 thousand baht you just saved yourself by not using an agent. Just think that you're paying yourself that money. It's the easiest money you'll ever make in your life. 20k for a couple of hours work? Little wonder there's so many "agents" out there scamming the frightened expats!

Good stuff! I do my retirement extension at CW, and I'm in and out in an hour no problem. I don't know how some people make a big song and dance about a straightforward process

Depends on the bank. When I opened my Bangkok Bank account they wanted Passport and Rental Agreement. Nothing else. No Cor, No Insurance. Each bank manager has his own analities
